Order to delivery time

Basically you can take what the dealer offers or look else where. Please name the dealership so future forum members can avoid them like you should be doing.
Dealership is Yonkers Kia in New York.

I ordered a SX-P with tow package on 3 January 2020. Dealer called me yesterday and told me my car would be here on Aug 8th, except it didn’t have the interior i ordered and it wasn’t a Prestige, and it had a nightfall package (so clearly not my order). Does this mean the dealer didn’t actually order my identical order and they’re just trying to fill orders based on what Kia gives them? I never got an order number and I have no ETA after a 7 month wait. I’m feeling extremely frustrated but holding on to this dealer because they are charging MSRP. Getting information from them has been an absolute nightmare. Should i continue to wait with this dealer or should i switch to another dealer who told me 3-4 month wait and also charging MSRP?
That is my exact story. Placed an order Dec 2019 just to try to give me another car on July 2020. Of course I refused and started looking for other dealers. I’m not sure what happened exactly but less than a month ago I was in contact with same dealer and they had my order in with eta Sept 12th. They either forgot that they ordered mine or they were just trying to give me a car without waiting on mine. I would call the dealer and get to the bottom of it make sure what’s going on. If they said they placed your order, request a kdealer copy with your order number.

Request one of our dealers here to please help with status on this VIN 5XYP3DHC0MG105732, before i start going behind my dealer starting next week....Looks like my order....

Did you get an order # when they put it into the system? The dealers here can look into the system to see if you name is "attached" to the order, and an ETA.

Ask for a screenshot of it - and if they can't get you this...I'm sorry in advance...

Jersey I thought only the dealership you order with can see the order number and ETA. Obviously all dealers can see the ETA after the VIN is produced but not the order number.

Correct, dealers can’t see other dealers orders. Only her dealer will help her with info until she gets a vin

Sorry meant that they can verify if it's a legit screenshot from KFOS and not random piece of paper with an order on it.

Ask your dealer and confirm that it's your order first with Peak Kia North. That's what you're paying them for... a manager will be able to confirm whether that VIN is your order or someone else's order. They have a good reputation I believe.

Sounds like they were allocated a NE vehicle and just offered it up to you. Doubt they ordered it. If I was in that situation, I’d pass. Unfortunately, you’ve waited this long. I feel like there’s nothing the consumer can do because the vehicle is going to sell anyway, so what do they really care if you scream and holler and give a bad review? Sure, customer service and the process in between is what makes the difference between a good and bad dealer. They’ll hurt in the long run, but the vehicle is going to sell. It’s a take it or leave it mentality. I guess it depends on whether or not you’re willing to walk and put up with another wait or deal with a vehicle that’s not what you want.

I don’t find them proactive in any form and hence the question.

I'm having the same issue with the same dealer.
With so many vehicles rolling off the line - I feel like the real crappy dealers are about to show themselves...

The ones taking orders in an unorganized fashion will end up causing a lot of pain for buyers who didn't ask all of the right questions - at time of order, at time of allocation, and at time of the VIN being created...

Thank you, I have requested it but getting a hold of them has been almost impossible. The dealership is Yonkers Kia in New York. I’ve been passed off to 4 different salesman, and the original salesman I ordered from doesn’t even work there anymore. I see there are some people who have been waiting longer, although few.

You're being too kind, ask for a sales manager or GM - it's likely one person their holds the keys to the castle...meaning they control what/how/when orders go into the system.

This is the runaround I’ve been getting for months.

“Request ID sheet” Is the name of the sheet to see that order has been entered into Kdealer.. which is like a queue(like getting a ticket at the deli) to when your order will be entered into KFOS(when you are at top of the list)...

Ask how many people are in front of you for the trim you are looking at. Not the package but Trim in either AWD or FWD.. so example looking at a SX Prestige need to ask how many SX AWD are in front of me.

Ask how many of that particular Trim they are averaging a month.

With basic math that should give you an idea roughly wait time. How many months till your order goes into KFOS and then add roughly 60 days to build and ship(also keep in mind location may effect ship time)

keep in mind all this is based on no other fluke delays for whatever.

@StephenCantrelle

Do you have a copy of a "Request ID sheet" from Kdealer. My dealer doesn't (or doesn't want to?) know what I'm talking about. And also a KFOS example to help with the next possible hurdle. :)

Thanks

That’s the sheet they filled when they took the order. The kdealer order should be online. They can send you a snapshot of it. It should have an order number with eta. Like this one

Here is what to ask for from Stephen's post last month earlier in this thread - read back a few months for more info.

Also there is a great thread "Latest information on ordering through KFOS"

And, here is another example of a Kdealer request screenshot with a "Request ID" I would read some of the posts in that thread also.

You should understand that your salesperson may have no idea this even exists. You MUST talk with a sales manager - go up to their "booth" where they are likely standing as they watch over the floor. At many dealerships, the salesperson just runs interference between you and a sales manager for his paycheck.

If you don't get the answers you want, then they didn't order your vehicle. Funny how the salesperson wrote info on a contract in bad handwriting... as a pretend order.

The funny part is that your order matches my order and I was called last week with an ETA of Early September and also offered a car that doesn't match what I want.
