Order to delivery time

Agree, gonna wait until I’m one month from my ETA and ask for an update. At that point I should have a more accurate (delayed) ETA. Asking every week and seeing it being pushed out every time will not do me any good.
Sounds like a plan!

My dealer just texted me that my ETA got moved from 5th to the 12th of September even though it’s already in transit. Don’t get how it can get bumped when it’s in transit. Understand couple days but not 7!

My timeline:

3/5/20 - Specs sent to my dealer in PA.
3/12/20 - Learned that my vehicle had been allocated to the dealership
6/23/20 - Learned it had been switched to 2021 with a 8/21/20 ETA
7/30/20 - VIN created in failcat
8/18/20 - Vehicle arrived at dealership (Moss/Dune SX-P with Tow)
8/21/20 - Drove to PA to take delivery

My timeline:

12/15/19 - Put $500 deposit down for SX AWD.
08/23/20 - No ETA.

Has your dealer confirmed your order has been entered into KFOS and accepted by Kia? If so, you should be able to get an ETA.

I just put a deposit down for a SX-P in Everlasting Silver with Dune Brown. They were talking 2k over MSRP. The only issue is they said 8-10 month wait time. My current lease runs out in Feb, so I don't know if we can wait beyond that.

Congrats! Which dealer are you going through?

I went to Napleton Elgin Kia in Elgin, IL. They were honest and said we don't want to lie and guarantee 2 or 3 months. It will likely take 8-10 months. I test drive an EX NF and my father-in-law loved it.

There are dealers that are selling for MSRP and timeframe of 4-6 months, if you are willing to go out of state. 8-10 months seems excessively long.

Thanks, I thought about going out of state but my wife is still not on the T-ride train. She still wants something else, so we'll see how it goes...

What type of cars is she interested in? I did my research before choosing the Telluride. I might be able to help.

A few months ago - I would have told you that with production ramping up - you should surely get yours sooner than that.... But today I sit with a 1/15/20 order and a 10/27/00 ETA. So 8-10 months sounds about right.

I’m with you there, particularly with the recent delays heard from @MarcinTexas

Yeah - I don't get it. Prestige production is running strong. August is the second highest month of production this year and the month isn't even over. I wonder if there would be some way to see what the backlog is on Prestige trims? Could it be that there are still several thousand people in front of the July KFOS allocations that is pushing this out to October or is KIA building in manufacturing capacity for dealer inventory for Prestige trims. Something just doesn't add up.

If you look at trends this spring - the wait back then was 30-60 days from KFOS to delivery. Now it is 90+ days. Plus - they didn't even open KFOS for Prestige orders back this late spring early summer - so assuming all those units went to the backlog.

Yes, I remember the old days when six months was a horrendously long wait time. Now, six months sounds pretty good....hahaha!

The craziest part about Wait times is the fact that they are killing it production wise. They are running those shifts like a well oiled machine.

I can only chalk it up to dealer allocations at this point. Which we can discuss until we all get our Tellys...somewhat broken system.

Yeah - my dealer has received a ton of allocations on all trims - even SXP. So at least for my store - that doesn't seem to be the reason. And that store is still booking more sold orders for SXP - pushing out into November. You would think KIA would want to get these sold units cleared off the books. But I can also understand why they might want to get some SXP into inventory. That said - they are still pumping out a ton of S models...not sure why. They would make more money from filling the SXP orders they already have.
