  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... About 3 weeks ago while we were visiting a local dealer in South Florida, we paid a $500 deposit to "get on the list". We wanted an SX but at the time we were not 100% sure of colors and options. A week later, I sent our salesman a text message saying we wanted SX AWD / Wolf Gray / Nightfall but not the Prestige package. I talked to him a couple days later to confirm the order was placed which he said it was BUT I was unable to get any kind of a confirmation document sent to me. During the initial visit I did get a receipt for my $500 deposit (paid by credit card) but I never signed anything. Anyway, I thought I give it some time and now I plan to visit the dealer this weekend to check on my order status. So it's been almost 2 weeks now since the order was placed. Shouldn't I have received something to show that?

thanks!

Yes. They should provide a printout from KDealer.

In my case I never got a printout or an order number... Just email confirmation that it was in the system.

Your dealer did you right then. I got screen shots of my orders, others received have received the kdealer order number, others in the past have not had theirs put in the system and the dealers tried to match incoming orders to what they had ordered. Without that number, you have no absolute verification that your dealer did you right.

Thanks for the information! I'll be in the area later this week so I plan to drop in for a visit.

I put a deposit down on one yesterday that's already coming in but they don't have the vin. They do have an estimated arrival date. Based on this info where are they in the process? They sent me a few things - a credit card receipt, and some sort of printout that doesn't seem to have much info. It does have a 5 digit number with a K- in front of it and a 9 digit number next to my last name.

That's an internal order number. When you have that, they give you an estimated delivery date. VIN is created when the vehicle goes into paint - about a month+- before estimated delivery.

Sounds like the dealer put your name on a vehicle that was allocated to them ie not initially a customer order. The Kxxxxx is the KFOS number [sometimes called a pin number]. The ETA is established early, soon after the order or allocation is moved into KFOS. The vin is allocated during the production cycle, near the end. When see your VIN and window sticker appear in KFOS, its all about to get very real. Your dealer should have a solid ETA at that point.

Ok good. So you are saying it's probably in KFOS and I should be seeing a VIN soon?

Ok, thank you. Based on what you know, would you think that would be less than a month?

Impossible. Too many variables. Trim level, options, colors all can effect production time.
I ordered an EX AWD PRE in a less popular color that was delivered two days short of a month. SX AWD PRESTIGE NFALL etc are the other end of the spectrum.

Usually yes, KFOS allotment is meant to fill orders for the upcoming month. There'll be another KFOS opening for next month's builds. So I would keep checking failcat for your build, it's coming.

oh i will be checking everyday :)

I was able to visit my Kia dealer today and I got a copy of the Dealer Request Entry form. It says the submit operation was successfully completed and the request was added (followed by a 15 character code) The date on the form is June 29th, 2021 which was the day we confirmed our build. So now we wait for our Wolf Gray SX Telluride!
