If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Good evening,

I am looking to purchase a Telluride later this year and wondered how Titles and Plates work out of state. I live in Louisiana and the cost of License Plates is super expensive when you purchase a car. When you buy it out of state does the dealership take care of all of that or do you have to transfer it and purchase plates when you arrive back in state?

I am having a hard time finding anyone wanting to do a custom order for me in SE Louisiana and it looks like I am going to have to buy out of state.

The dealership will include your out-of-state tag, title, and state taxes in the out-the-door purchase price. Your tags will be mailed to you by your local MVA just as if you purchased from an in-state dealership

Depends on the dealer and the state. Unless they are used to dealing with your state, the dealer will send the paperwork to you or to your local DMV office. Then you will be charged your local taxes and fees at that point to license it in Louisiana. No matter where you buy it, you will be paying those fees. The only way to save local taxes and fees is to register in another state and hope that the local police don't catch on.

I looked at buying a car in AZ a few years ago. They still charge their local tax on top of my out of state tax from ND. I did not purchase the vehicle in AZ.

States vary as does their reciprocity with others.

I passed on a car from AZ for the same reason.......

I just paid a $500 non refundable deposit to Barker Kia/Mitsubishi in Houma for a custom build. Just communicated by phone and email with the sales manager. The build price on the Kia site was exactly what they quoted me. They add $995 above MSRP and include a paint & interior leather protection (5year warranty) & window VIN etching. 3-4 month wait, probably sooner since I am getting an EX. I hate paying above MSRP, but I don’t feel like traveling out of state. Time is also money.

Ironically, I discovered them last month. I am ordering one with them next week. When I last spoke to them (mid July) they were selling them at MSRP and with a refundable $500 deposit. I guess things changed over the last month.

Yeah I guess so 😠, I guess it could be worse. One of our vehicles is on its last leg, so I didn’t have much of a choice.

Did anyone at the dealership tell you how many orders were ahead of yours when you placed your deposit?

I'm just glad to have found locals in this forum. 🙂
I placed my deposit 8/6 with Barker Kia Houma also still not allocated.

I am guessing my order will be longer than 90 days. I thought my order showed up on FailCat, turned out someone else ordered the exact trim, and color. I was so bummed.

What was it that you ordered and what options did you add? I'm constantly on failcat and from what I can tell from other LA dealerships, Houma doesn't get much allocations a month 😔

EX Bench Seats, Ebony Black, Grey Interior-did not add any options. You are right they don't receive many allocations, but Brad said he would let me know as soon as they receive an allocation with my vehicle.

@lagniappeonthebayou - unfortunately I still haven't received notification of my order being allocated.

I was able to at least get an estimate of where I am in line. I ordered 8/23 and I am somewhere around 14.
Awesome!! I was told I am 6th in line but that was back on Nov. 1

@lagniappeonthebayou any updates from the dealer on your end? I received word Monday Feb. 7 of an ETA mid-March.
