• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Over MSRP

@Julian0328, I told you that they are going to ask for a premium, but that you don't have to pay it. I followed the advice of others on this forum and used failcat to find dealers in areas that I was willing to drive to that had also had vehicles coming in that fit my criteria. Once I had that narrowed down, I called them all. Some dealers, especially the ones closest to NYC are firm on getting a premium. But if you find several dealers that have your chosen vehicle coming in and it's not already spoken for, they are likely to negotiate. You may not be able to get the same deal as someone else on this forum without negotiating.

Yup, 3-6k above MSRP or more, you are looking at a brand new Volvo XC90. And not even a base model, they are giving $4500 rebates on those vehicles right now...

I was actually VERY close to buying a 1 year old XC90 T6 but held off because the scores for predicted reliability were low. At the time, we were already looking at the Telluride as well and my wife said she preferred it over the XC90. So, decision made!

I never dug deep in to the XC90 but was curious why the low ratings for reliability?

Yup. I would have bought one if wasn't for those abysmal reliability ratings. No idea why they are so unreliable, I think they are made in China now. Another one I have my eye on during my 6-month wait is the new MDX. That has all the makings of a great redesign, by reports. If that gets released before my Telluride is built, I will be test driving that one for sure.

It's too bad. I personally like the design and driving. I expect we will be very happy with the Telluride though.

For me, the XC90 is the most elegant 3-row SUV today. Very refined, safe, comfortable. We decided on the Telluride because of reliability. We had an XC60 that we liked except for annoying mechanical issues. None of them will get us stranded, just needed to keep fixing them. Examples include CV joint clicking, erratic shifting, break shimmy.

The Telluride is not the same class of cars as the Volvo, but I expect it to be trouble-free for a long time.

I just bought my SX last week here in FL for sticker price -- not over. I went out of town, since my local dealership was also $3,000 over sticker. I didn't want to wait. If you're near Florida, I can give you my salesman's name. They are getting them in weekly. Good luck.
So where in FL?

If you are in a hurry to get the car and can afford to throw $3k away which will instantly disappear in depreciation and insurance total loss payout, go ahead and get it. Somebody is going to buy it before the end of the week if you don’t.

If you are not in any rush to buy, find a dealer that will sell at MSRP if you order one to get the best price possible. You may need to broaden your dealer search across states, consider flying to pickup, or pay to have your car delivered. All scenarios will likely still cost less than $3k markup.

Just because they are asking for the extra $3K doesn't mean you must pay it. Like any offer price, it is a starting point for negotiations.

Their response was sorry price is non negotiable.

Thanks! I’m in PA. But I did the same thing as you, I broadened my search and I found a dealer in Ohio not charging over MSRP. Im willing to drive if it’s going to save me 3-4K.

I'm on LI also. I got mine from Abeloff Kia in East Stroudsburg, PA. They were MSRP. Easy to work with too.
Nice! I might reach out to them and check out their inventory. Will save me a 5+ hour drive to Ohio.

We got lucky when we found our 2021-S. We were randomly checking dealer web sites and found one. Called and they still had it. Sales guy was willing to hold it until we got there (1 1/2 hours away). The only reason they still had it was because someone bought it the day before when it came off the truck and their financing didn't go through. So they put it on the website and we grabbed it. No markup over MSRP from the dealer either. We did get a chuckle out of the whole process though. The sales manager told us they get calls about the Tellurides all the time from people asking them to hold one for them, and they simply can't do that! Oops. The sales guy apparently didn't get that message. It's mine now!
