Though driven daily, over two weeks ago I went to start it and the starter just cranked and the dash lit up with all kinds of messages and lights. Popped the hood to see two large wiring harnesses under the engine cover all chewed and just a mangle of copper wire. Pack Rat!! We are having a bounty of them this year due to lots of rainfall this summer. Had it trailered to Oxendale Kia in Flagstaff where I purchased it and received it in January. Only 5000 miles on it. The ECU was fried as well as many sensors that were shorted out. Service ordered new parts and installed them only to find 2 additional sensors that were bad. They were overnighted but from Chicago. They arrived the following week but then a last sensor showed up on the code reader. You read the narrative of the repair on the invoice and it reads like a surgeon's report on a surgery! Finally after 2 weeks it was fixed. $3900!! Thanks to Comprehensive on my auto insurance, State Farm wrote my a check the same day. I even had an LED strobe light under the hood which is a Arizona remedy, but the engine cover gave the varmint a nice place to hide and munch. Have a second strobe in now and the engine cover is off.
Oxendale Kia did a good and as speedy repair as possible. It was one of the worst they had seen. I was worried that the supply chain mess might have an impact on parts, but everything was sourced from around the country and overnighted.
Had to cancel a week long camping trip since the Telly is my camper's (Lance 1685) tow vehicle. BTW it tows the camper beautifully.
