• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Question about the auto stop feature

OK, I’m sold. Just ordered the Autostop Eliminator. 90 bucks with the WELCOMEBACK code seems like a small enough price to pay to get rid of this nuisance.
Just installed.

Minor PITA because the immobilizer didn’t want to let me shift into neutral while in accessory mode (maybe not enough charge in the battery?). Stuck a screwdriver into the little “shift lock” defeat area and was able to move the shift lever to neutral. Crisis averted.

A tight fit for my large hands, but nothing new — back in the day, I made extra money installing car stereos (and still have the scars to prove it). Looks like everything works as advertised — my car is one small step closer to perfect.

QUICK SUMMARY OF SOLUTION OPTIONS

1. Install an electronic device in-line with switch wiring. Switch can still be used to toggle on\off. Button is either set to disable function at every start up, or to save the last button setting perpetually. Cost around $100. Install time 1 hour or less. Fully hidden.

Place a mechanical wedge pushed downwards, along the side of button, to hold button depressed all the time. That will disable function at every start up. Install time under 1 minute. Few ways are:
2. a 3D printed wedge. Cost around $10. Visible, but best looking of these options.
3. a zip tie (cut to about 1 inch long). Cost pennies or free. Visible, but tiny.
4. a folded chunk of paper, plastic lump, or some other random object. Cost free. Visible, and ugly.

There is one other possibility. Since this is all on the computer data bus, I'm wondering if something can send a "that button was just pressed" command upon starting the car. If that can be done, so do the same thing for the lane tracking button on the steering wheel, and the climate control switch for the passenger seat. And maybe even the infotainment start up "I agree" button (rather than waiting for it to time out)
any pictures?? as far as zip tie what size??
