• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Hey guys
planning on buying a telluride SX in Toronto area and am planning on taking it to the US next year for good. can someone pls confirm whether the speedometer is digital and can be covered from KM/h to Miles/h as major metric on the speedometer?

No. I live in Vancouver drove to Seattle a few times now and the digital speedometer stays in KM. Dont think there is an option to switch it to MPH.

I don't understand - you have asked this question a few times already. You won't get a deal on a vehicle in Canada - you're moving back to the US next year - which is 1.5 months away - you're from the US - so why not just place an order with a US dealership (it'll take 3-5 months anyway) then pick up when you return to US? If you need a car now in Canada, consider renting something for a few months. Monthly rentals aren't too expensive relative to a car payment - I've had to do that before.

You've already found out that (1) Canadian warranty is less than US, (2) you would need to change out the instrument cluster if Canadian car is in US for more than a year - or export it - because you couldn't sell it without the modification. Taxes are probably higher in Canada too. I thought you were going to just get Telluride when you get back to US?

I understand you are anxious to get a vehicle now... or you could just fly down to US, get the vehicle now (once you find it) and take back to Canada for less than a year without having to modify. Right?

Yep dropped the idea of buying a car here in canada. I will be here for another 10 months and am not able to find any suv rental that’s less than $1,200 a month.
Don’t think I can purchase a vehicle and have it registered there without having a US driver’s license.

Ah, I see. So still 10 months ... yes this is a complicated situation! If you have a family member maybe could register it at that address. Just a thought. Well, if you did buy in Canada, then you could drive it for another 10 months, bring it to US for another 12 after that, then resell it back in Canada (export it). But, then you'd probably take a hit on the resale value. That is if you didn't want to replace instrument cluster 12 most after moving to US.

Well, I am uncovering more and more things everyday, latest being - for a Canadian vehicle that I want to take to the US I will have to pay 13% taxes in canada, duty fee (2.5% for vehicles manufactured outside NA), and taxes in US (7% in case of Georgia). So for an Audi it’s 22.5% and for a Kia it’s 20%!!!

It can be manually adjusted from KM to MPH. Info in the online manual.
