If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Reasons why I probably will now NOT buy a Telluride

🤖 AI Summary

No AI summary has been generated for this thread yet.
My biggest issue with purchasing a Telluride is with the dealer service and paint quality.

My 2010 Sedona is a mess when it comes to the paint. Dozens of chips and bad fading on different sections of the car. KIA will do nothing under warranty, even just months after purchasing.

Second is dealer service. The mechanics, at least at my dealership, are inept. For example 3 trips to fix back up camera, 5 times ( still not fixed by the way) for the sliding door not closing properly and 3 times for auto trans oil leak at electrical connector.

I shudder to think what problems they will have repairing a car as technically complex as a Telluride

First off welcome to the forum and for your first post.

A 2010 Kia is exactly that a 2010 Kia. Kia is light years away from where it was 10 years ago as I have been with Kia for 11 years (summer of 09) I witness the changes first hand.

Did you buy it new and months later had paint issues?

That 100% is covered under warranty.

Sounds to me you may have had a bad location to work on your Sedona. Most people who have had Kia’s in this forum can attest they are extremely reliable without any issues. I had 3. 2013 Kia Optima 2015 Kia Optima Hybrid amd 2017 Sorento and have only done oil changes on them.

The brand as a whole has come along way with cars like the Cadenza, K900 and Stinger have been out before the Telluride with the same features of the Telluride.

So in my opinion Techs will be just fine.

I purchased it new in 2010.

The chipping started fairly early on, the paint fading in different areas took a number of years to develop and my dealer has said that those issues are not covered by the warranty.

My major complaint isn't with that stuff too much it's the dealers service staff that's my biggest grip. Sure they didn't charge me for the mechanical issues but its the aggravation of driving back and forth and waiting etc.

I was excited to replace our 2016 Sorento SX with a new Telluride, but have run into potential deal breakers.

1) I simply wanted a Telluride SX with the Prestige package and a second row bench seat. We like the bench seat because it has a center armrest with cup holders and cubby for kids stuff. We also like to keep the third row folded but retain the convenience of 3 second row places. But NO, you cannot have that.
To have that, you have to order the EX which involves giving up HUD, surround cameras, integrated garage door openers in the rear view mirror ( called Homelink? maybe) dual sunroof, 20in wheels, auto rain sensing wipers, etc etc.. So WHY
I just wanted an SX with second row bench. Our Sorento even has that.

2) Living in Florida I wanted remote start. But NO again. We had a dealer installed remote start on our Sorento and it consists of a key small fob. Works great out to about 500 ft or so.
But what do they offer on this new Telluride?, some type of funky phone app. No thank you.

Now apparently the Palisade offers remote start integrated into the main key fob. Press a button and it starts. So there seems to be no reason why Kia cannot do the same.

Anyway, consider me not to be the early adopter I had planned to be.
The Kia app gives you remote start. And locking and unlocking remotely.

Totally get you but #FunFact All Tellurides come with remote start through the KIA Access App 🤫
Not true....I've had 4 KIAs and the telluride is the first that has remote start for me. My last Kia 2017 Sedona didn't have the remote start...not even via the UVO app. The KIA Access App is new.

I too am interested int he Telluride, but I visited the dealer in Charleston, SC and they only had one (1) vehicle on the lot. I was interested in the SX, but was told those are not available, therefore I will not buy a pig in a poke, nor will I give them my money to use while I wait months on a vehicle that I am not sure I will purchase. At least I can see and drive a Mazda CX9, which I may settle for. I don't buy all the hoopla about the new 2020 Telluride. I will await the 2021 and see how that culminates. The 2020 may be good, but I want to see and drive one before spending my money.

Yes, you gotta drive it of course. If you can find an EX to test drive that would be the closest to the SX, but I think the driver’s seat is different.

OK, so I was wrong. After 11,000 trouble free miles in the Palisade my kids and friends have overwhelmingly praised the captains chairs. Why I thought that I needed the second row bench is completely beyond me.

However absolutely no regrets getting the Palisade. It has many features that the Telluride does not. The power folding third row is loved by all shorther persons. I can even actuate it from the front seats.
Body styling is totally subjective and the Motor Magazine Gods don't like the Palisade's looks. Well they also would like every vehicle built to have a manual transmission and consider the Miata and BMW 2002 to be the pinnacle of automotive excellence.

What don't I like? The push button gear selector. Would much prefer the regular shifter in the Kia. But then I wouldn't have the paddle shifters which I used a lot in a recent trip to the mountains in North Carolina.

Just a rhetorical question.
Is it logical to purchase a 50k car considering what is going on right now around the world and the uncertainty for the future. I feel like I am going against the norm by buying a car tomorrow morning for my wife. Time will tell.

only if you are financing a large portion of it and put added risk into your life .........................

I wouldn't worry in the least. This will all be over in less than 6 months and the stock market will have rebounded. And you will probably get a great deal. Also your Telluride is made in the US ( Georgia?) unlike our Palisade which is made in S. Korea. And anyway, we had zero problems with our previous Kia Sorento, so you will be buying a bulletproof vehicle with the Kia.

What don't I like? The rotary gear selector. Would much prefer the shifter in the Kia. But then I wouldn't have the paddle shifters which I used a lot in a recent trip to the mountains in North Carolina.

The Palisade doesn't have a rotary gear selector.... Push button shift...but the rotary dial is for the AWD system.

I have the EX and my key fob does have a remote start

I like the app. I can custom set start times on the app so I don't forget to start it when it's -20 degrees outside. It's all warm and ready for me when I leave work. It does have a small delay when starting, unlike the key fob which, I assume is instantaneous. However, I can set the climate to whatever I like, including turning on my heated steering wheel and choosing to defrost if it's icy or snowing outside.

2020 models do not. Which is what the OP was describing nearly 2 years ago. Please read dates of posts before replying.
