In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Hi fellow CA Telly owners -

We ordered our new Telly from i25 as so many of you have. Ordered an EX AWD with Tow in GWP/Gray interior (need that bench seat for carsick-prone 8 yr old). Due to pick-up in late Oct.

Planning to fly in to collect and road-trip back to the Bay Area. Any recommendations on best route to go - will snow be a factor in late Oct/early Nov? May consider driving down to LA to visit family, then back up to Bay Area as an option.

Looking forward to our new car - And thanks for any input on road trip experiences from CO to CA.

PS - Dominic Carrillo at i25 excellent to work with so far - texts us weekly updates on delivery status...

I also live in CA (Sacramento) and ordered from both I-25 and Arapahoe Kia in CO (will purchase whichever comes in soonest). I plan to fly out and then do a 2-day road trip back through Salt Lake City and Reno.

My original ETA was 11/13, but I recently re-ordered an a different color (switched from Dark Moss to Wolf Gray) so new ETA is January.

congrats, and good luck on your trip to pick up!

Route via I-70. Always chance, but highly unlikely to have snow that early. Snow if any should be light or very short duration. Usually visit Denver in November and December, for us nothing that 4x4 or AWD can’t handle. Picked up my Telluride in February, had snow driving back to CA and it drives very well.

Congratulations on your order! I can’t offer any help on routing. For the carsick-prone child, I recommend Ondansetron (call pediatrician for Rx) and emesis bags.

How was your trip? Thinking about doing the same thing so I don't have to pay for the shipping charge. :)

I am going to do the same but to So Cal. My ETA is 5/15

We ended up shipping after all. It turned out car arrived early - aka same weekend as my son’s 8th birthday- so we didn’t want dad to miss it. We shipped and were happy with overall decision. We calculated saving just a few hundred dollars after factoring in 1 way airfare, gas, food , lodging etc. If we had been able to have all of us fly out and make a multi-day road trip, might have been different. My husband was glad he didn’t have to drive solo. 8 yr old was happy too!

How much was it to ship?

When I was asking about shipping to SoCal from Fowler/i25, my dealer said that it would cost roughly $1700.

Due to various timing reasons, I decided last minute to fly out and drive it back. Cost wise, I probably spent a total of $600 on airfare, 1 night hotel stay and roughly 3 tanks of gas. Food I don’t count into the cost since I eat regardless ;)

One of the reasons that I also did the drive was for the road trip itself. I stopped by Arches National Park and the Grand Canyon…albeit they were quick 2 hour stops.

Yes! This is what I want to do with my family of 4. Did you have to buy your tickets just 48 hours in advance? That's what I'm worried about, not knowing when the car will get there, then bam! It's here, you have 48 hours to get it.

I decided very late to make the trip out to denver and booked my flight the less than 48 hours prior to my flight. If I had waited to the following wknd, my flight would’ve been $150 cheaper.

If I were to do it again, I’d book with an air carrier that has flexible no fee change policy and rebook as needed (I’m looking at you southwest). You’ll have to do more research to be certain but it sounds like that is what I read in their policy.

We paid $1200 to ship from i25 to Bay Area (mid Peninsula) - uncovered, insured with $0 deductible. All American Trucking- this was back in Oct, so not sure if they raised their rates with gas prices increasing etc.

Anyone have contacts at any of the two CO dealerships?
Do they match Costco pricing?

Just drove from Fowler to socal. 1,100 miles. Followed gps. Colorado, Utah, Nevada and then California. It was great. Snow everywhere. The telly gobbled up the miles. Would do it again in a heartbeat

Wife and I go back and forth about flying out with out 1 yr old. Def would make for an interesting road trip back to SoCal, but the gas prices are out of control right now.

FYI. Did the road trip last year to SoCal, Telluride used less than 45 gallons. CO gas was $2.42 vs $3.80 now, CA gas was $3.16 vs $5.56 Costco.

Just say no to roadtrips with toddlers 🤣

Haha mine are a little bit older than toddler, but we are planning on seeing great sand dunes, mesa verde, Glen canyon, zion and las vegas on the way. Hopefully it will be fun!

That sounds like a great trip. I recently did Moab, Salt Lake, Reno to Bay Area. Route is great very little traffic until you get close to Sacramento and then its dense all the way to SF. Have fun.

My lil guy has been surprisingly good on road trips. Granted 5hrs was the longest one so far. Regardless I'm excited for the telly to arrive via road trip or shipping it over
