full disclosure, my custom order NEVER included the RSE, but when my '23 SX-P Xline showed up at the dealership, it had the RSE installed for some reason, I argued with the dealer to properly remove it, they ended up just giving it to me for free vs removing it.... I have 2 young kids so I agreed and it will end up getting used, but I agree with most that 2 iPads is probably a better investment. I wouldn't purposely pay $1,500 for it... The screens stick out a few inches and can impact kids getting in the backseats with backpacks on... The nice thing is if I ever wanted to remove it, it's just popping the front seat rear guards off and unplugging a wire and 4 screws to remove the screen brackets (I'll just leave the wiring harness that runs through the dash as-is)
BUT
I found that if you put in a little effort, the RSE can be great!
I converted alot of our kids movie dvd's to .mp4 digital files (simple apps online can do this with a few simple mouse clicks) and then loaded them onto a $10 mini usb thumb drive from amazon that plugs directly into the back of the RSE screens, they play movie (and .mp3 audio) files perfectly and the interface is very easy for young kids to select movies/songs via Thumbnail images. I also purchased 2 wireless kids headphones from amazon ($30) and they can charge via the USB-C ports in the car. I found $10 Telsa entertainment screen covers that slide right over the top of the screens so they don't light up the back of the car when not in use before the 10 minute auto power off kicks in... Lastly I purchased a Super Nintendo Classic system and a $10 HDMI 1-2 splitter, the Telluride's rear power outlet powers the Nintendo and both kids can play off their screens on long trips... So for about $100 you have everything you need to keep young kids happy in the backseats on long trips.
I don't have a mobile hotspot or care to use the built in Verizon hotspot, so streaming options aren't an option for me, but if you do, I've heard the RSE can work well when used with Amazon or Roku usb sticks, I just didn't want another monthly cell expense and have to deal with coverage issues...
So if you have the RSE, they can be fun for kids with a little effort on your part to take advantage of their capabilities...
