Hi,

I have a trailer hitch on order and have plans on looking for a nice RV under 3500 LBS. if anyone haS any suggestion, please feel free to send a PM. Looking forward to learn how to tow and camp out!

Do I need to take my Telly to the dealer for any adjustments or is it as simple as getting the trailer hitch installed and hooking it up to the RV?

you will also need wiring. if going new camper they will all have electric brakes so you will need to install a 7wire setup and get a brake controller.
if its an older popup it could have electric brakes(7 wire) , surge brakes or no brakes (4 wire setups). you may also want to look into air bags(unless you have the auto leveling susp.) or a weight distributing hitch depending on the trailer weight and tongue weight. you want the trailer and tellluride to be level as possible and little to no sag to be safe.

I tow my Trailmanor (fantastic camper if you can find one) which is around 3500 lbs. My Telly has the tow package but I had to go out of pocket to upgrade to a 7 pin and electric break controller. As for the self leveling, it is a bit over stated. I don't go too far with my trailer but if I were to, I would add after market "true" self leveling kits. Be wary of towing with this vehicle. It is one of the few things that I don't like about the Telly. I would suggest hooking up and towing your new camper before buying it to be safe.

Thanks. I’m looking at a 2021 bhs wolfpup.
I ordered the Tekonsha Tow Harness T-Connector. Will that work? Since it’s a newer model, do I have to look into the add ones you suggested? I’ve read a lot about self leveling but not sure how that will impact it.

Once the hitch arrives I’ll get it installed and will probably give it a test run as suggested before moving forward.

for that camper you will still need a 7 pin setup and a weight distributing hitch setup ( adjustable draw bar that also has bars that attach to trailer. ) and a brake controller installed. you may be able to work those into your deal at the dealer when you get the trailer.
they have 4 wire to 7 wire adapters that the 4 wire will plug into then just need to run the other 3 wires needed. ( 12v hot, brake signal, reverse signal) you will need the brake signal at minimum to run the brakes. ( there was a post where someone found the wire to use for brakes)
the 12v hot will charge the trailer battery and run 12v acc. ( fridge?) while towing. the reverse most dont use as it is for reverse lights and/or most boat trailers dont have electric brakes but hydraulic surge (no power needed) but have a solenoid that needs the reverse signal to bypass the brake for reversing without brakes( surge brakes work off of backwards pressure to the tongue of the trailer)

Btw- I don’t have the tow package. I just bought a 4 flat extension (12 inch wire length) and a 7 blade to 4 flat. Is it as easy as connecting these two pieces?
