• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... So I just got home from the dealership with my new Ex Black on Black. I love the car but had a few issues at the dealership. Why is buying cars such an issue? I ordered mud guards, not on the car. The driver side seat belt is backwards and the finance rate is not what they originally told me. So...my questions are what interest rate should I be paying for 60 months and do your seat belts look like this? PS - I have excellent credit.

Driver side is a different belt than passenger and the buckle is the wrong way. I asked that they fix it when I bring it back for the mud guards.

60 mo with 1500 rebate should be 2.9%. will have to check my belts to compare.

Thanks. That’s what I was quoted upon ordering and they are trying to charge me 3.9%

You can find the finance rates in the what did you pay for your telluride thread in the how to buy a telluride forum. 2.9 is correct, although kia mentions they can upcharge by 1%.

I hope you didn't sign and submit paperwork while not happy with the rate. Could be incredibly difficult to change after the fact.

If you already took delivery and signed the paperwork aren't you stuck with that rate?

You can turn the buckles on the seatbelts. Takes a little effort

My searbelts are like yours. The passenger side is different than the drivers side and my passenger side has that loop and it faces out when wearing the seatbelt. Hasn’t even noticed it until I read this post and looked at it.

I wish they had offered us that lower interest rate! With Kia financing it was high for us. We went through our CU and have 4.39 and that’s with excellent credit scores. I’m super jealous.

Your drivers seat belt is definitely reversed. More importantly, it appears you fell victim to the F&I hyjinx. The sales process isn't complete until you complete the paperwork with the F&I person. Let's put it this way, these guys are nothing more than salespeople with a different title. In most cases, F&I is the single largest contributor to dealer profit after service. Dealers have the legal liberty to mark up interest in the same way they have the right to charge above MSRP for the vehicle. NEVER take a floor sales person's word for the financing portion of your deal. That is the domain of F&I. You have the god given right to rip up the finance contract at the time of signing and request a better rate. Always be prepared with alternative financing and info on competitive rates vs mfg captive financing.

I was prepared to pay 100% cash until I was offered the finance incentive. I put down all but 10K and financed the rest. Will pay it off after the first payment. In the 9 weeks I waited for my vehicle, they never ran a credit check which was puzzling. Upon delivery I noticed my interest was 2.9% vs 1.9%. I questioned the F&I person on it and he stated "what do you care, you're going to pay it off in a few months." My response went something like "you can shove that contract...." (well you know) Asked them to do a credit check while I waited. Paperwork was then written up to 1. 9% This was 100% principle on my part. Didn't liked being yanked around.

Most people don't question the rate at signing because they're more interested in getting the paperwork done so they can enjoy their shiny new toy. They bet their business on that premise. Question everything and absolutely read all the fine print.

With that, I'd check the laws in your state to see if you do have legal recourse to change things within a certain time frame. Or ask the dealer GM to oblige as a goodwill gesture given you have to return for the belt issue (that they should have noticed during PDI) and the mud guards.

All the best with your new ride.

It’s actually super easy to turn the buckle. I was a car seat tech for years and had to turn them all the time.

So I got the seat belt turned around without a problem and Saturday morning I called the "business manager". He all but said tough and we have the right to add a percent so I went to the General Manager, the namesake of the dealership. He turned out to be an OK guy and asked me to forward him my correspondence with the salesmen where he confirmed the rate in writing. The general manager asked I come back in and we re-wrote the contract for the 2.9% interest rate. I was shocked but pleased he did the right thing. Don't know if any of it had to do with the fact that I purchased through the Costco program and I made it clear I would be notifying them how they dealt with their customers. Did he want that to be positive or negative. Put 500 miles on the car this weekend for a road trip and it handles on the highway like a dream.

Congratulations. Glad it turned out in your favor!
