• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Hey Folks: curious if anyone else has had this issue with their upholstery fabric on the back of the Telluride's second row captain chairs? Noticed about a week or so after purchase (ugh) back in March that the upholstery was a little loose and over time it has just worsened as the seat has been adjusted. Not sure if there's just too much material on the back or its just simply not tucking in. Not the most critical defect on a car, but an annoyance for sure.

Can guarantee once I fix this, I'll be investing in some of these bad boys:

We have the same issue on both backs of captain row seats. Looking for a fix to this!

Yes! A week after we bought our car I sat in the 3rd row and noticed part of the material was pulled out of the seam on the back of the captain chair. I mentioned this problem to the dealer at the first service. They tucked it back in, but you could see that the material wasn’t smooth against the back where they tucked it in. Over time it wound up pulling out again on both captains chairs. I brought the issue back up at the next servicing. The dealer took pictures and is sending them to headquarters because I was told by the dealer they feel it pulled out due to some outside influence. Other than normal wear and tear there has been NO outside influence that would pull this material out. If the material comes off this easily it is obviously a flaw in the manufacturers design. I am glad to see this is happening to others, because if corporate comes back and tells me this is not covered under warranty I will have to pursue further action.

I need to replace this fabric piece on the back of the seat. Can anyone help me know if I can order this?

This just happened on my 2022. Did you guys ever get it fixed under warranty?

Thank you for this great recommendation. Just purchased!

I simply pushed it back in the carck and it never happened again

happened on a 2020. was dealer able to resolve?

I am currently waiting for my dealer to hear back from their rep on what they can do about this. Sounds like the dealer isn't sure what they can do to fix it and its not a quick fix with a tool for them. A little bummed out and worried it won't get fixed at this point. I have a 2022 for what it is worth.

If they dealer admits it is flawed, they are obligated to fix it or replace it.

Well the dealer fixed my telluride seat back up today! So excited. And guess what? The guy just used a trim stick that looked like this thing on amazon and he pushed it into the seat - he had upholstery experience so I was happier to have it fixed this way than to drag out the process for a whole new part. :)

They realized that the new Telluride's have the same seat back and he tried it out on one of those. So for 15 bucks you can fix it yourself or Lancaster Kia in Lancaster, PA can hook you up!

The felt came loose on the back of one my second row captain chairs just three months after I purchased my new 2021 Telluride. I took it to the dealer and they fixed it under warranty. They said they installed a new seat back but I’m a bit skeptical they didn’t just retuck the loose felt. Two years later, it came loose again. This time I read the above posts, purchased a $5 auto nylon trim tool set from Harbor Freight Tools and retucked the felt with one of the flat head tools and a rubber mallet. A flat head screw driver will work too but the nylon tool is safer not to damage the felt. I have no idea how long the repair will last so I might apply a little adhesive if I have to tuck it in again. BTW, this is the only problem I’ve had with this car in three years.

It happened to me too! I used a trim stick, but it kept popping. A little glue and a trim stick seems to have solved it. Still stupid though that they didn't use an abundance of fabric though. Shaking my head...

It happened on my 2023 as well. The dealer quoted me $180hr for maintenance to repair - estimating an hour. What type of adhesive has anyone used when re-tucking it?
