• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I recently purchased a 2020 Gravity Gray Telluride and I absolutely love it! The only issue I have is if I leave the sunroof open or windows cracked to keep it cool the car alarm goes off consistently. Does anyone know if this is something that can be changed or disabled?

I don't see why bit would do that. If you leave the windows or sunroof open, try locking it with the fob instead of the door handle button. I believe if you use the fob, it doeswn't arm the alarm. I would also take it in and at least get it documented, maybe a software fix later, or could just be an adjustment the dealer can do.

I'll give it a shot!

I've locked mine with the hood open to keep battery tender connected in my garage and I do not get alarm warning. The IC states that the hood is open for about 5 min then shuts off. I haven't confirmed if the alarm is actually armed.

Mine did the same thing when I got it.

The alarm kept going off when I left and locked the vehicle. Well it turned out that the Telluride has a sensor in the back that alerts you if you leave someone ( kids left in the vehicle) and walk away.

The dogs were setting it off. I had no idea because the salesman didn’t mention it. It can be disabled.

Mine was going off a couple days ago too because I had my moonroof and back windows partially cracked. The Kia access app was alerting me too saying motion in the back. I have no idea why, maybe the wind was blowing in and it picked up on this. There was deffeintly no movement. I do have 2 car seats in the back but the alarm never goes off when the windows are closed...
Hopefully Kia can do some kind of update to fix this issue.

How do you disable?

it is disabled in the center screen settings above the steering wheel.

Under what?

From Page 4-22 of the user manual:

You can activate or deactive the ROA from the User Settings mode in the cluster LCD display. (this is the one behind the steering wheel). The option can be found under the following menu:

User Settings --> Convenience --> Rear Occupant Alert

Thanks for this post! We bought ours 2 weeks ago and the alarm was going off at 10pm a few nights back. We weren't sure if it was a software glitch or someone was trying to break in. Realized the next morning my kid left her window cracked but would never have put that together with the ROA. It was a windy night, so the sun screen must hvae been blowing around setting off the ROA. Good to know!

My son often prefers to stay in car with window open when we go grocery shopping. After hearing alarm as we walked away, I gave my son our car key to hold on to thinking the alarm won't sound if key is detected inside. However, he called me and said the alarm is still sounding.

Thanks to you, I went in to the user settings and disabled both the rear occupancy alarm as well as the double click to unlock passenger doors. Much obliged!
