• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Same here, except when I was washing the vehicle and couldn't wash the rear with the key in my pocket. I tried to unlock the door (as the smart liftgate is disabled when doors are unlocked), but when unlocked with the fob, the doors would lock back a few seconds later and then the smart liftgate would become active again.

Unlocked your car and then open and close a door.

Yes, that's what I did, but this morning I decided to disable the smart feature as since I've had the car (a bit more than a month now), the "smart" thing annoyed me much more often than times I found it useful. So I will work the other way around and count the number of times I miss it over the next month and decide if I put it ON again after this. :)

Yes, it must be a Hyundai/Kia thing.. If you unlock the doors, and do not open one of them, the car relocks itself after about 10 Seconds.. If you open a door before that, then they will remain unlocked.

I do that on the Sorento, after unlocking the doors to keep the smart liftgate from operating, you have to open and close a door. That will keep it from locking back up automatically.

You need to open one of the doors after unlocking. That will prevent it from re-locking.

Nope, not a Hyundai/Kia thing. For all the modern cars I've owned past maybe 2006 (bmw, Mercedes, dodge, honda, Toyota) all lock if you unlock and don't open a door.

Yes, I find the fact that the door locks deactivate when you walk by and the mirrors fold out to be more of an annoyance than the lift gate. I believe that is a feature that can be turned off though, but I have not had the time to figure out if that's the case and if so, where it is done.

The mirrors fold out but the doors do not unlock for me. Still have to press that silly little button.

Same here - no auto door unlock when I approach the vehicle. THAT feature I miss since we’ve have it on our Honda and Infiniti cars.

The liftgate opening in the garage is not NEARLY as much of a problem as it not sensing movement or presence of a person when it is closing. I know because I have a concussion and 6 staples in my head currently and am now terrified that one of my kids could have their heads smashed like a pumpkin. I am estimating the force created by the two hydraulic liftgate arms to be a minimum of 600 psi but the engineering R&D would need to confirm.
