If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Some people in California are paying over 70K out the door for a Telluride

I probably shouldn’t put this in writing but I’d pay up to $60K for a Fully-Loaded, SX AWD if I had to if my only options after vast countrywide research and investigation were: 1. Pay $60k and get it “now”; 2. Wait over a year to get one at or close to MSRP; or 3. Not get a Telly.

But those aren’t your choices...do some legwork.

Did you even read my post? Did you see my signature line? Some people are so damned lazy! Geez. Re-read my sentence right before the 3 options. I’ve spent over 150 hours on the Telly pursuit.

Yes. I did. I spent 8 hours and had an SXP NFE in my desired color 15 days later. MSRP flat.

The times are definitely crazy, it was just last years people were shelling out crazy amounts of money for Clorox wipes and toilet paper. The dealers here in SC have all gone to 8k above MSRP with the FMV claim. I couldnt imagine paying over, but for some, the over msrp is still cheaper than the SUV they were originally going to buy. Me personally, I would never do it, I have not run into a situation in my life where I needed anything that bad, but I also see why some people do. The car is amazing and we couldnt be happier and personally hope no matter what anyone pays they enjoy theirs as much as we love ours.

Cali people just getting what they deserve. (y)
Haha! So as a native Californian, but one who would leave the state in a heartbeat if it wasn't for work and family obligations, can I be exempt from your statement? :)

Not sure why anyone would pay $8k above MSRP. Two of the 8 dealers I spoke with in PA are only selling at MSRP.

You can order a car from these dealerships and either pickup (and take a nice drive home) or have the car drop shipped to your house for a few hundred. Either way is better than being gouged for $8-12k.

I agree totally. We bought ours 2 years ago in July for 1k below MSRP. Nkw the same dealerships are at 8-10k above and they move off the lot like they are free.

Remember when in 2019 people were saying that these vehicles are going to be sold at deep discounts in a year?

Two years later...

Uncalled for but you do you.
haha. It's actually not. Dumb people voting for the same dumb policies over and over thinking the results will change or thinking things will get better.

You’ll need to make an appointment at a designated exemption center, where you will need to enroll in a three hour re-education seminar. If, after that, you still want to be exempt, you can fill out an exemption request which will be processed in the order it was received.

I contacted close to 10 dealerships in the Philadelphia (PA) region. Two were selling at MSRP, while the others were selling for $1500, $3k and $5k over. Most were in the plus $3-5k.
I’ve bought a few new vehicles in my life and never paid MSRP. That said, I was pretty happily to be paying MSRP this time.
Same here. Seemed weird not to “wheel and deal” a bit. I did get $400 off for my DD214 so I did pay under MSRP in a way 👍🏼

Last year I saw a SX N/P/T that I like, the SoCal dealer wanted 14K over MSRP. They want 10K over MSRP for a EX. I bought in CO.

Who you calling dumb? :)

Btw, Cali isn't the only state where dealers are marking these cars up.

Here's on in FL:

Another one in TN.

I called dealer in SF (closest to me in NM) and was told by whoever I spoke with they had a big markup (can’t remember for sure but something like $10-$12k). I ended up in Texas.

I am here to admit I was one of those people. I figured in two years or so the “newness” would wear off and these would be discounted. Oh how wrong I was.

Eighteen months after the Telluride went on sale I ended up purchasing an EX at MSRP after waiting for a drop in residual value that never materialized. But I couldn’t be happier with the purchase. I will admit that I check Carvana every few days to make myself feel good about the purchase 😂. Currently the only Telluride available for purchase on Carvana (there are 13 listed; only one isn’t in “purchase in progress” status) is a 2021 S that is listed for $47,590 😳. Wild stuff.

Other states may have it at that price but people in Cali probably only people paying it. Heck they coming to Texas and overpaying for our houses down here. Lol 😂
That's totally false and not supported by data. These may seem like small lies to you, but on Jan 6th we saw what lies can lead to.
