Stephen,

I have a few questions that may have already been answered on this forum but I will ask anyway. Are allocations on a month by month basis? Do you usually get allocated at least as many as you have already placed orders for, and if not, what happens to those orders not yet allocated? Do they just slide month to month until filled?

Thank you

Let me start by saying this is what I have gathered from Kia allocation system. It is in my opinion and the most accurate to my understanding.

Kia shows the dealer it’s turnover rate on its ordering platform.

Allocations are determined at turnover rate and how many you are currently getting compared to that turnover rate.

Basically a snowball effect. More you get and the more you sell... (the same day they arrive) the faster you get allocated more and you increase your allocation.

If you have some that are on the lot sitting for a week or more than you are moving up your Average days in inventory.

If you are selling as they hit the ground Kia system says you need more to keep up with the other stores average day in inventory.(Vice versa if you keep Telluride on ground for extensive time)

So if you have 20 orders but are a slower turn around store Kia may only offer you 7-8 cars a month. therefore would take 2.5 months to allocate the Tellurides.

after being allocated they still need to be built and shipped to dealers.(possible 1-2 month wait time here)

This can get out of control quickly if say same store increases and then has 50 orders but Kia still see them as 7-8 cars a month. Wait time drastically changes. Some orders may not be filled.

Just because a order is placed if they have not earned that many orders it will not be filled. Period.

with that many orders they will be selling as soon as the come in and allocation number will increase but will take time.

that is why the spreadsheet here is important that MichelW made. You can find the dealers that are high volume. They will get the Telluride faster and have quicker turnaround but on the flip side of coin don’t want to order from high volume dealer that has say 50 orders as may take a while to get to your order.

This is just a part of it... but a big part...

I appreciate that explanation. Thanks!

Are you a serious buyer?

You had a line on a white/black LX back in March from Stephen, then you asked about availability again in May, and now once again. Are you just hoping to find an unsold allocation and get a discount? Most are selling at list...

Anyway, the Dealer Inventory section is a great place to watch. Huffines Corinth has a few in stock including an LX.

I was. Stephen has been a great help and I spoke with him multiple time through text off this site. We ended up getting into a Palisade, got a deal we couldn’t pass on. We couldn’t wait for a Telluride to be in stock and happened to find the spec in the Palisade we wanted.

You are all great on this site. When the Palisade lease is up we will absolutely be looking into what Kia has available and work with you all again. Thanks!

Just want to give it up for my guy, Stephen Cantrelle. I live in So Cal (Orange County). While i don't live under a rock, i only learned about the telluride mid november. Called several dealers and got the So Cal run around. Joined the telluride forum. Placed an order with another out of state dealer. Was told 4-6 months. A couple weeks later Stephen posted new allocations that were coming in to him. He had one that we wanted. Contacted him and put a deposit down 12/07.

As everyone on this forum has seen for some time now, Stephen has been helping everyone locate their orders (on his own time and with no real benefit to himself). From the moment that I contacted him to present, he has been ultra easy, transparent, professional, polite, and communicative. Per Stephen's post, ours was delivered today.

To all out of state buyers (especially my Cali peeps), I cannot recommend Stephen more highly. Save your time and money. Buy with him and ship. S_cantrelle@yahoo.com

BTW. We purchased the car sight unseen and without stepping foot at a dealer to see or touch it. Never owned or even sat in a Kia. I'm by no means a car snob, but we really only have owned "luxury cars" for the past 15 years to present. My optimism about the telluride was exceeded today. And as a bonus, I feel a little smarter by choosing this vehicle. Our other car is a model x.
