If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... SX Prestige Package

Agree with your “rant”. Still remember ordering my first car, a Candlelight Cream 1966 2DR HT Pontiac GTO. I studied long in deciding what “rear axle ratio” to order. It was not 4.33:1! I think it was 3.55:1. What a grand car. It was stolen from us 4 times! Twice in Oklahoma and twice in So Cal.

Ahhhh...GTO...iconic! By the way ....your avatar looks like it might be a "Connie?" ....also 'iconic!'

I flew the Connie during my time in Southeast Asia in 1970. A great airplane.

I grew up in an Air Force family......planes were a part of my life!

More customization = less ability to plan and have the right parts on hand at the right time. Just imagine the time to deliver a custom order if Kia didn’t have some limitations/standard packages in place... probably 9 months vs current 4-6.

I personally appreciate the manufactures who keep it simple, like Acura. They general have 4-6 packages with no individual options. More efficient to make/build. Less confusion for customers when buying. It just makes sense.

Yes...if you like it that way. On the other hand .....I was considering buying another vehicle before I bought my Telly and it was, as you indicated, "by packages"....to get all that i WANTED I would have had to accept "rear entertainment screens" ......I am at the age where that is to totally useless for me and a waste of money. Customers should have a bit more flexibility and if it means they have to wait longer to get what they want, well, that's a choice they make.....otherwise, look at lot inventories and buy what's close to what you want. In the case of the Telluride , I wanted Black Copper.....in order to get that color I had to accept the "prestiege package" which is required if you order black copper....all fine with me because I wanted that, but someone wanting that color MIGHT not want all that extra stuff.......just saying.....the days of "special orders" being centered toward YOUR desires still bring back good memories for me! Ordered a brand new first year model 2005 Corvette and had the enjoyable time of specifying everything from body color to the stitching color on the leather.....no packages......so it's just a matter of what you like to do.

What I think you might not be considering, is the gain in efficiency of production can offset the additional cost for items you do not want. Example, production efficiency allows manufacturer to sell cars for $1,500 less. You have to take a $500 cost hit for said screens. You still come out $1,000 ahead.

Porsche will gladly let you specify any options you want from the huge list they offer. Just expect to pay top dollar and wait for the custom build :)

1960’s was certainly a different and simpler time. Our 66 “Goat” MSRP was $3300+/- and everything was an option as I recall, including external (manual) mirrors (you want one or two?) air conditioning (we chose no air-too much power drain on that 389, Hurst 4 speed shifting Muncie trans!) or bucket seats. We had plenty of time to pinch pennies. No iPhone, no iPad, no computers, no social media and we knew what party lines were!

mass produced vs Lux hand/micro builds .......................different strategy

I own a Cayenne e-hybrid. Yes the list is huge. For example, my car has well over $20k+ in options putting it around $100k to get a decently equipped vehicle. However, for a car that’s actually in production and approved by the EPA... (for a while the EPA wouldn’t release the cars at port for 2019’s as they were still being tested for MPG ratings) the wait time is less than what Kia is turning around and they have to be shipped and go through a port, etc. You can count on 3-4 months and be told an ETA at time of order.

You can also negotiate off MSRP in most cases (exceptions on impossible to get special cars like GT3RS, GT2RS). Don’t expect off much on MSRP, but generally you can get 4-8% and sometimes 10%.

It’s also a different world walking into a Porsche dealer, and service while $$$$$ you are treated like a king. Brought my car in for an oil change and other service and was given a brand new Panamera 4s ($135k sticker). When we go to sell the Cayenne down the road in a few years, good chance we are going to buy a Panamera or Taycan.

Anyone know if the ambient light and lighted door plate come standard on the SXP? Our order is getting done and the dealer asked me if I wanted those features and I thought the SXP came with both of those. I know ambient light comes with it just not sure about the other.

The illuminated scuff plates are an option. The lighting around the top of dash and doors is standard on the SXP, the floor lighting is an option.

I have heard to many stories where depending on the circumstances that the app remote start can be hit or miss. We are paying extra to have the remote start be added to our Key fob. The way it will work is you hit the lock button 3 times to get the remote start to activate.

Just remeber this significantly reduces the distance away from the car you can be to use the feature.

At least it works right?

....AND, you are NOT paying some ridiculous monthly fee!!!
