• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Telluride competitors you've crossed off your list

Looked at the Traverse RS; love the look of it, the only reason I went against it was predicted reliability.

May sound crazy, but we started looking at a Yukon Denali. I couldn't fit in the 3rd row without my knees in my chest (we have very tall kids, so scratch that). Then tried the XL version, and fit ok but looking at $75-80k easy with what we want. Next stop drove to see the Telly, and we fit great and got everything and more for much less $. Could have had an SX-P for 2k over a few days later at that dealer, but wanted a different color and some other options.

I have an Infiniti JX35 (now called QX60) which is also the Pathfinder, it's not in the same league. 3rd row for us is now too small for my 10 year old on any length beyond an hour or so.

Never considered most of the other "competition" or even others higher end due to being too small (Highlander, Pilot, Explorer, Audi Q7, X5, etc.)

Drove an Expedition, it's a contender. Should we end up waiting aimlessly forever for our SX-P to come in, we likely will go that route or the Navigator. May also look at the MB GLS as well should that happen.

Just a thought.....if you need the room, nothing is going to go beyond the Epedition or Lincoln Navigtor . I have owned MB GL in the past.....over priced for quality equal to my SXP....just my opinion.

Yeah, surprisingly the 3rd row is around the same size inside at least that's how it feels between the 2. Expedition is wider, but legroom wise they felt about the same.

Amazing!

CRV - no power
Tiguan - seats are narrow
Atlas - bleh, I was really eyeing the Atlas Cross Sport, but it’s not coming out till Spring.
GLC - during test drive, the lower interior side panel of the B pillar came off, I kid you not...it confirmed what everybody says about Benzs, they are not reliable.
MDX - needs to update to the 20s
RDX - nicer than the MDX, but no enough room
Q5 - no room & pricey
Q7 - WOW...but I’m not wealthy
Ascent - actually I liked it a lot, great engine, very roomy, but I hate how it looks. Can they make that roof rack taller...
Highlander - I test drove a 19, but the seats are very tall. Very pricey
CX9 - I loved this crossover...too bad the seats were very narrow, I drive an hour to/from work.
Santa Fe - it was OK, kinda narrow for me
Palisade - I liked it..couldn't believe it does not come with power folding mirrors.
Telluride - love it, wider leg room space vs Palisade. Power folding mirrors. Looks better than the Palisade.

Awesome summary. I echo your sentiments...

I took Honda Passport off my list: go to the Passport forum and you will see 13 PAGES of complaints about breakdowns of the infotainment system. Incredible! Some people suggesting a recall is needed. I am waiting for more in-depth commentary on the 2020 Highlander. Highlander production is much higher, so no supply problems and no dealers charging over MSRP. Hopefully the recent increase in Telluride production will settle down the supply issues. Many Highlanders are being discounted right now, so the typical price advantage of Kia is not there, or a lot smaller than typical.

Lets discuss the suvs that were once on your list, that are now gone. Has anyone crossed anything off their list yet?

BMW x5, x7, Audi Q7, Volvo XC90, Mercedes GLS.

The Kia just checked more boxes but some of those cars above have such amazing fit and finish. Hard to turn away from them until you look at the 40k difference between a well equipped x7 an the Kia.

Exactly!!

I was considering the Ascent but it wasn't as nice and more money. The Highlander was on my list for a while and I like its redesign but it wasn't out yet and my lease was ending. In the end it was between the Telluride, Palisade or another Jeep Grand Cherokee. Jeep has a redesign coming for 2021 including a 3 row so didn't want to buy one now just to have the newer better one come out 6 months later. The palisade is nice and I like the name but the Telluride wins over all of them. Although the palisade has remote start on the fob (and also dealers are charging a premium, the one I drove $5k over sticker)
