If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... 🤖 AI Summary

900 miles on the odometer, 244 miles on the trip meter, displaying 27.5 mpg.
9.29 gallons of Costco regular fuel added. Millage calculated is 26.26mpg

Driven roughly 5 individual trips on a combination of two lane blacktop and the interstate hiway between Jackson and Ann Arbor Michigan

Seems pretty easy to beat the EPA numbers

With the engine properly warmed up, on interstate that's flat and no traffic, I am getting around 32-33 with my AWD
How fast (I mean slow) are you driving?

2000 miles and I'm at about 21.3 overall. Thos tank I'm at almost 26. But i had a couple cold nights last month where I sat idling while waiting for kid, so that sucks up gas mileage. First road trip in 2 weeks and I'm hoping for 25-26mpg with my 85mph lead foot.

Do you all drive with a 50mph tail wind? 32mpg? Thats over 550miles to a tank of fuel! Mine couldn’t get 32 being towed on a trailer.

I get under 19 mpg all the time in the city. But I knew I was buying a large midsize SUV and not a hybrid compact sedan?

Was able to average 25 mpg for my 300 mile road trip last week.

Or downhill both ways...

@Sharnhorst - we're seeing numbers similar to yours (we're in SD). We do quite a bit of idling in the cold waiting for kids after school here, and during the winter remote start really affected numbers. On our trips, we saw 23-24mpg while doing 74ish loaded with 2 kids and a dog in the car.

It really depends on so many variables, that's for sure. Our current average is 14.09mpg but that was all winter (we picked ours up in oct) of remote starting and waiting around on kids. Our previous vehicle did even worse than that over the winters, closer to 11.

I came from an Escalade that got around 11mpg with city driving so anything better is gravy!

I assume everyone is putting in Regular (87 octane)?

The Escalade is a 7K lb vehicle

I was a bit surprised but when you think about it; there is a lot of mass to that vehicle. Just not an MPG friendly vehicle for city driving. I see plenty of them though. What size tank?

26 gallon tank, 403-hp 6.2L V8. It had decent range on the highway.

Yeah I’m sure it did

I finally got a tank where I did mostly highway driving. Ran in eco mode the entire time.
Telluride told me I got 27.6 mpg on the tank.

I did my own calculations and got 24.23 mpg. This is the highest yet. And I also had it packed down with heavy gear. So I know it could do a little better.

Anyway. Calculate your own mpg if you want a realistic read on what any of your vehicles are doing.

Avg speed on that highway run?

~300 of the 400ish miles were highway driving averaging around 59mph. The rest was city.

The highest mpg my Telluride has ever told me after a single trip was ~31 mpg. I imagine I was probably getting more like 26.5 mpg at best.

First road trip, about 500 miles to NOLA. First part (east bound) almost 29mpg over 200 miles or so with cruise set to 78. South bound not so good because head wind that i would guess was 20mph. Finished trip at 24.2mpg again cruise set at 78 most of the way. Pic is gas stop, about 60 miles left on tank before started pumping.
Side note- interesting how mileage to empty doesn't really change with changes in MPG (my Durango miles to empty would fluctuate with how my mpgs were). But I did see a big jump in the miles to empty when I filled up, at home was 347 while avg mpg read 20, 415 when i filled up at 24.1mpg. Would estimate I would have gotten about 390 miles if ran to empty. Not bad for a medium lead foot.20210408_141215_HDR.webp

Been managing a touch over 20-21 (calculated via the vehicles computer).

That’s in Central NY where regular 87 contains 10% ethanol.

I have a pretty heavy foot. I knew buying the vehicle it wasn’t going to be the best on fuel. While 290 hp it decent, it’s pushing around a 4500 lb vehicle so it’s definitely working to do so.

For what it’s worth, my previous vehicle was a Focus ST and I averaged about 23 and that ran on 93 octane. Definitely miss ripping through the gears in that car.

I'd like to see a photo of your "accumulated info" screen that shows 32-33 mpg! Sorry but I don't believe you are averaging 32-33 mpg .

I was wondering what speed the Telluride is most fuel efficient at. I'm thinking 55mph is likely the sweet spot just from watching the instruments.

In other news, does anyone else keep a record of their odometer and gallons of fuel with every fill-up? I keep a Google Excel doc in my Google Drive and update it with every fill-up. On the topic of mpg, you can't really trust the numbers your Telluride is telling you. When I see ~25mpg average on my gauges I'm actually calculating around 22.8mpg according to my spreadsheet. 19.84 mpg is my lowest and 23.88 mpg is my best run yet. 2021 SX AWD, btw.

I'm curious if others are experiencing the same?
My EX Telluride indicates 27.4 mpg. I suspected it was high so I ran my own figures with mileage and a gas fillup. It was 25.5. So...my Telluride mpg is showing somewhat higher than I am actually getting. I drive on 50 mph roads usually and some freeway.
