No really, Kia has already released the numbers. For February, they've already sold hundreds of Tellurides?

Wow! That's amazing! I know this was a highly anticipated vehicle, but could some of these numbers include employee purchases? I'm sure they get pretty good discounts and were waiting for these vehicles as well.

Might that number include ORDERS? Or could it be the number of Telurides that have been shipped to dealerships?

I work for Kia at the plant that builds them. They have suspended the employee discounts temporary until the customers get there orders. :(

Interesting! Kia really did great with this suv. It's amazing how quickly they're selling. I've seen a bunch on the road already. When the Stinger first came out, it took months for me to see one.

How is the quality of the telluride? Hope not like VW atlas, there are so many issues for Atlas at beginning

Curious where sales number/orders are found or reported? Since the word is that Kia is only producing 40,000 total Tellurides for 2020, worldwide, it’d be interesting to gauge if / when they are close to or do max out. Also could be a good bargaining tool for those trying to order, if their sales numbers are not as high as every dealer indicates they are.

The first estimated they 40,000 in the first year. Then after they got hit with orders, they estimated 60,000 to 65,000 will be sold. They also said they could do up to 100,000.

Kia posts their sales numbers on their media site at the beginning of each month.

Here is the update with April numbers and YTD. Looks to be averaging about 5500 units a month which would work out to 55,000 for the year. If it wasn’t for the Telluride they’d be down y-o-y. Considering how impossible these are becoming to find I don’t think anyone’s blowing smoke about not wanting to come off MSRP.

May numbers should be released Monday. It'll be interesting to see how they are selling after 3 full months.

May sales: 6,273

Higher than April 2019 sales of the Atlas (6,050) and Durango (6,171).

If Kia can get production up during the next few years - I wonder if it could get to 12k a month by 2022? Maybe outsell the Honda Pilot! :) Big dreams.

The Tulluride production at the plant is running full. No more increases are planned at this time. Supplier restraints prevent adding more production.

Could you maybe let us know if Kia plans to improve their delivery process. Specifically allocation of vehicles to paid orders instead of random delivery's. When you read about people who have been waiting for a month or better to get their Telluride only to find some other dealership in their area or further get the specific package they ordered (and was not a pre-order for someone else,) yet said person still has another couple months to wait for theirs.

The May sales numbers for CUV 3-row models (whose manufacturers still release monthly sales data) are quite staggering. As we know, Kia is releasing this vehicle (and Hyundai the Palisade) into a white-hot market in the U.S. The sales of these types of vehicles is up a whopping 36% including the 3 brand new models this year. Excluding those models (Ascent, Telluride and X7) sales are still up 14%. This is quite phenomenal and highlights the broader trend of U.S. consumers desiring these larger vehicles versus passenger cars. Hence why Tellurides are selling within hours of hitting the lot.

So far, the Telluride might be taking sales from the Honda Pilot and the Mazda CX-9 (whose sales are plummeting YTD) - but all other brands saw strong growth in May. Will update this with Ford and GM data when it becomes available... but now they only report quarterly.

May numbers are in! This seems to indicate production is ramping up and I’m betting they hit 60-70k units this year.

I'm really curious to see what the Palisade does to disrupt this list. I think the Telluride can easily surpass the numbers for the Subaru Ascent.

Same here. If Hyundai is watching this closely, and I’m sure they are, they might adjust pricing up instead of trying to match Kia’s pricing strategy based on the $10-30 million Kia gave up to dealers in markups in the first few months. That could of course put a damper on demand so we’ll see. The big difference in my opinion will be the styling and how buyers react. It’s a cool car but it’s got a grille only a mother-or Lexus owner-could love. But then again Lexus seems to be doing just fine and the Highlander sells like crazy despite being the ugliest damn thing in the road.

It seems like a lot of price conscious people are holding off on Kia and want a better deal. Potentially loosing customers for other brands, or everyone is shopping for subjectively “good looks”. They should really think about what they’re doing in for long haul, pilot and Highlander have been on the market in a while, obviously they have returning customers because of something. What happens when in 3y someone wants to trade in Telluride and for paying 55k they get 25k.

Would be surprised if Kia has been able to increase production capacity of the Telluride to pass the Ascent or Atlas in sales (if they continue at the rate of May's nos.).

Still, if the Palisade sells as well as the Telluride (supply can be an issue as it's been selling well in Korea) here. that means the H/K proper 3-row CUVs will sell as well, if not better than the Honda Pilot.

Rio and Soul sales are up YTD, as well as for the Optima (just barely, so likely won't be going forward).

The Sorento was up for the year until May.

W/ a new Optima and Sorento on the way, the Alabama plant will be humming.
