Yup I'm in South Florida! Year round boating so I did what I had to do. I towed last night. If you back up I think over 5 mph? Or could of been my angle the car auto braked (thinking I was hitting the boat). I wish Kia would disable that when tow mode is on. But anyway you can shut it off in the settings but need to do it everytime. However when I got home backed in my driveway it did not activate.AUGUST??????
I've owned my car since November. Boating season in mid/south texas is year round. Yeah, I'm pi$$ed if this is true.
Yeah - the auto braking thing is annoying and scary the first time it kicks on and you didn't expect it.Yup I'm in South Florida! Year round boating so I did what I had to do. I towed last night. you have to do this every time you tow? you cant just switch it off and then turn it back on later??Yup I'm in South Florida! Year round boating so I did what I had to do. I towed last night. If you haven't experienced it yet - it's not a huge deal. When you start to back up as something is attached to the hitch (or if someone/something is behind the car), the car will automatically brake and warn you of the "danger". Once the car has stopped, you can override this by simply pressing on and releasing the brake. It's not a big deal, just a nuisance when towing. It's an awesome feature to have otherwise.you have to do this every time you tow? you cant just switch it off and then turn it back on later??
I got a letter from Kia America that says any aftermarket wiring harness will void the warranty. It's because they haven't found the solution to the problem yet.Hi all! Former 2022 and and now new 2023 SX-P owner here! I wanted to add some hard data to the 2023 Towing Hitch saga. I only know this because my 2022 was totaled by an F150 about 2 weeks ago, and I managed to jump on a 2023 SX-P X-Pro. Here's what I can add for you:
1. It appears by all accounts that the 2022 aftermarket tow hitch bar itself will fit. Just this week, E-trailer has changed the '23 Telly status to reflect that the Draw-Tite/Reece/Curt tow bar (hitch) made by Horizon Global will fit the '23. This can be confirmed on E-trailer's website, along with Reece, and Draw-Tite. I will not make any personal representations as I don't own this hitch (or any right now). This hitch is sold under Draw-Tite part number 76420, Reece part number 84420, and Curt part number CQT76420.
Now - this does NOT mean that the factory 2022 hitch will be compatible with the 2023 bumper cover. It only means that it should fit. Here are some pictures of the mounting places of my '23 for you to compare to.

2. It appears that the 2022 wiring harness will most definitely NOT fit the 2023, at least not on the SX-P X-Pro. Here are some pictures comparing the 2022 harness to my 2023 connectors. The 2020-2022 Tellurides had a dedicated connector to plug in the towing harness, whereas the 2023 does NOT have the same connector. In fact, it looks like the towing harness for 2023 will need a pass-through style design.

3. I can guarantee that the 2022 tow cover will NOT fit the 2023 SX-P X-Pro. The shape is completely different.

Sadly, it seems we are going to need to go full aftermarket, or wait until the saga completes from Kia and we know how to order the factory parts.
Thanks!

same here, super pissed off to there point I've started to look at other vehicles with a tow hitch installed. I sat in the new Honda Pilot yesterday and my god is that thing ever built cheap, everything inside is cheap plastic...I left saying to myself there's ZERO chance I would trade my Telluride for one...The next vehicle I'm going to look at is the Mazda CX90....AUGUST??????

i almost pulled the trigger on a 2023 yesterday, but when i asked about aftermarket wiring possibly voiding the warranty, their service department said yes it could. if something happened and they traced it to the wiring harness it would be a problem. so kia really has screwed all owners, past, present and future.. im with you, im not willing to risk it and will hold off until they get this rectified. If they ever do! so lameI contacted a couple of local places about installing a harness on my 23 Telluride and two of the places said they would not do it because of concerns about messing up the computer. The only place that would do it is the U-Haul place.
For anyone who has spliced into the existing wiring to add a harness, have you had any issues? Is the concern about messing up the computer that these two shops voiced legitimate?
I might have the U-Haul shop do it if there's little concern for problems, but I don't want to create any problems either. I saw the recent post about an August date for a harness release and I'd rather not wait that long if I don't have to.
Spliced (soldered) into the existing harness. No issues here. No concern about messing up the computer. Just use a taillight converter compatible with LED's.For anyone who has spliced into the existing wiring to add a harness, have you had any issues? NO. That product will only fit the 20-22 Telle's. It will NOT fit the 23's. Refer to the manufacturer's data:Just like others, I am very frustrated with the delays and getting no help from my dealer. Unlike others, I have zero knowledge when it comes to vehicle wiring. I will be pulling a trailer so need a 7 pin. Found one on Real Truck.
Will this work? Will it void my warranty?

The email I got from Kia said aftermarket hookups would void my warranty
