• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... The 2023 Towing Saga Part 2 - Finally good news!

It is not the right size or shape for the bumper opening. The hitch doesn't matter at that point.View attachment 31815
The one on top is what was removed from MY2023.
The one on the bottom is the replacement and is approximately 1" wider at the mounting tabs and flat on the other end, which is what is visible and has all of the mounting clips.

If you still have the original panel from MY23 out or available, can you post the part number molded in on back? I've been trying to find it to get a replacement panel.

Thanks!

I will try to get that for you but it may be a couple of weeks.

I just left on vacation & the part is at home.

It's in post #269 - S9F61-AU160. However, when I searched it the other day nothing comes up. Guessing it'll be blinded until it's available as an individual component?

That's the modified one with the trailer attachment.

I thought they were asking for the factory original w/o the mods.

My bad.

I did stop by a US dealer today and opened a kit to see the new cover does exist, though they can't order just the cover separately.

The kid said he'd check with his boss tomorrow.

No worries. Yes, mine came in the box with the hitch. The dealer didn't charge for the new latch (whatever it does), and I already had the Palisade harness, so I'll just install that.

Hello folks, thank you for all the info I found here!
I ordered my harness on august 28 at oemhyundaiparts
It was stated arriving date September 8-11 but I checked now on the status it only says "On order"
Anybody had the same experience? I emailed them 2 times and no answer yet.

Cheers.

I'm sorry but my experience was better. I ordered from hyundaipartspro.com on June 20 and they emailed me that it had shipped on June 26. Maybe they just happened to have it in stock.

I just walked into a Hyundai dealership and asked for a 2023 Palisade wiring harness.
Paid $210 CDN and I installed it an hour later.

Completed the install yesterday. Only took about 2 hours, with the caveat the house we just bought has a lift. Side note: where have you been my whole life? I used the Hyundai harness with the Kia instructions; there was only I modification and it wasn't a big deal. I'll hold onto my middle insert panel in case anyone messes/messed up the cut (pre OEM) and needs a replacement. Happy to ship it for postage.

Finally I got an answer and it totally not what I expected.

"This appears to be for a Palisade? If so, there is a hold on trailer receiver hitches and harnesses at this time. Hyundai has not released a timeframe on availability for these parts. If it is for a Palisade, let us know and we will issue a refund."

I cannot believe I wasted a month waiting for that part to arrive, I wonder if I did not email what it could be.....

Should I try the canadian way now?

Wow, that's interesting. Now Hyundai is affected by this. Hopefully, you can just tell them it's for a Palisade and get a refund. I visited one site while looking for the harness that wanted my VIN to prove my car was a Hyundai before they would sell me the part. I would go for the refund and shop around.

Are you just trying to order the wiring harness or the hitch as well?

What part number did you order?

I reordered the harness using the different website, delivery expected on Sept 21, crossing fingers

I just had my dealer install everything today. $1226. It came with the drop, but no ball on it. Which left me perplexed. I wish the labor cost was a lot less ($570), but they were unwilling to budge.53D3BB9C-A495-4FAC-8390-97BCB07D6E4C.webp3E891112-A378-4721-AA1B-5CEAD1830347.webp

Our local dealer has 6 sets in stock and can install the same day. $720ish for parts and $650 for install.

Yikes that install price is high. I took my time and it took less than 2 hours. If I had a second person to help get the hitch in place, it would have taken less time. Granted, I have a lift, but so does the dealer! Not sure what their hourly rate is, but if I can do it by myself in 2 hours, they can certainly do it a lot faster. I'm at best a YouTube mechanic!

If you look at the letter from KIA HQ, they estimate the time at 1.84 hours.Screenshot_20230920_211348_Samsung Notes.webp

Assuming that the letter is legit, your labor cost seems very high.
