The 2023 Towing Saga Part 2 - Finally good news!

The harness is available for sale. Its listed on the factory Hyundai accessory site. And i just recieved the harness from
hyundaipartsdeal.com Try them.

The hitch as i stated above is not yet available. hyundaipartsdeal.com
also told me the hitch is not yet available which jives with the date Hyundai stated of fall 23 (October 10th'ish).

These parts places and the dealers give a lot of wrong answers....
I did just that ...... I ordered from the same place you did. Now I am holding my breath lol.

I bet. If you get another "on quality hold" as a reason then Ill belive it. Hopefully the first place has their wires crossed.

My plan now is to call the same site I got the harness every few weeks to see if the hitch is available yet.

Why not buy the e-trailer version

I want the hitch to be oem height up and behind the bumper vs. Hanging below the bumper.
Also, i want the oem insert panel and be able to put the bumper cover on when not in use.
I did not know there was a difference. I thought the OEM hitch from previous years was the same and the 2024, just the bumper cover insert and the harness being different.
So the OEM hitch will be covered by the bumper cover insert and be invisible?

I apologize, I misspoke about the OEM cover going back on to cover the hitch.

The 2023 hitch has a new plastic insert included that goes in place of the original bumper cover panel. Then the hitch goes through it and there is a spot to bolt the 7pin receptacle to. Below is a capture from the 2023 hitch installation sheet. And below that photos of what it looks like with the OEM bumper cover still on and then after the hitch is installed on a Palisade Calligraphy.

You'll notice how the reciever is a good 2-3 inches higher than the Etrailer or Curt Hidden hitch is. Not to mention it looks cleaner IMO.

Excellent news! I'm sure you will keep us all posted and perhaps how your harness install goes
Installed today the S8F67-AC700 4pin/7pin Trailer harness 2023 Palisade. Took 1.5 hrs total.

Honestly, pulling the rear jack compartment out, the sill plate, and popping open the two left trim panels was fairly straight forward. The trick was sorting the best way to run the harness through the OEM rubber grommet. I modified it slightly more than the directions.

First, the white 8 pin harness plug above the rubber gromet just inside the trim panel, was there under a piece of white padding. The white connector was taped with athletic type tape to the harness that runs to the rubber plug. I felt around inside and the white plug's harness had no slack. I was afraid to un-tape it and have it shrink back inside the panel and cause stress once the new harness was plugged into it. So, I left it taped and plugged the new harness into it as it was.

The rubber plug lifts out of the body metal hole quite easily. The rubber is very, very soft. I opted to drill the gromet with a 1/2 hole and then use tin snips to cut the gromet from the edge to the hole. This allowed for a better fit of the harness vs it spreading the cut too wide. There is only 3\4 inch room to drill the hole between the harness already running through it and the lip of the gromet that the body metal fits into. You'll see I drilled the hole fairly close to the harness already going through the grommet. There is no way the new harness can somehow rub against the metal body panel.

I then installed the 7pin plug harness through the gromet. To maximize the amount of harness going to the hitch, the new harness is inserted through the gromet so just 1 inch of the convoluted plastic tube is protruding into the trunk area. I connected everything inside the trunk first and then pulled it tight to make sure I maximized that length going to the bumper. That allowed me to RTV seal the gromet to the plastic tubing vs the cloth covering.

Lastly, I did not photograph the RTV application to both sides. I'm sure you can sort that out. Though, work the gromet and squeeze it some to minimize the gap in the cut before sealing with RTV.

When the Redarc brake controller arrives this week, I'll take some photos of the install as well.

The OEM zip tie mounted on the stud, to reuse it, I released the zip portion and flipped it around so I could remount it to the same stud one the nut was tightened. Then install the Zip ties per the instructions.

Final Set of installation photos.

Ground wire and module harness tied to the original harness.

White 8pin plug and fused connectors tucked back in place. Be sure to apply black RTV to the gromet at the cut and around the new harness that comes through. Same for the underside of the truck in the photo below.

To have enough slack for the 7pin plug to mount to the OEM replacement bumper cover, Zip tie the harness at the gromet area upper right but do not run the new harness along the curve otherwise the big 7pin plug will not make it far enough to the bumper cover.

Zip tie at the 1pm and 11 am point. 7pin plug bagged and taped shut upper left until I get the Hyundai trailer hitch.

Interesting... I installed the S8F67-AC800 and all the components are the same as yours. Same P/Ns. I wonder if the difference is the programming of the module.
US vs Canadian part numbers. Same part imo

Is this installation sheet from a telluride? The 2023 hitch looks remarkably like the 2020-22 judging by the pdf.

The install sheet applies to a Telluride or a Palisade as this part of the vehicle is identical. As for the hitch itself, the OEM hitch has never changed throughout the model years. it is identical throughout (current part#S9F61-AU002).

So the hitches judgeschambers refers to for the Palisade
"S8F61-AU300 Hitch Calligraphy with bumper cover"
"S8F61-AU200 Hitch with bumper cover"
are the same as S9F61-AU002?

My "Kia" (S8F67-AC700) harness will be here Friday (Thanks to judgeschambers). I see no reason to wait until the 2024 hitch to be released because it appears to be identical to the 2020-22 at least in dimension. I am moving forward with purchasing S9F61-AU002 and fabricating a bumper cover from my original. I am sure there will be a 2024 bumper cover insert released at some point but I see no reason to wait on an insert.

Does anyone know the difference between the two Kia hitches, S9F61-AU000 and S9F61-AU002? I am told they are the same except for the rubber receiver cover. Anyone confirm this? There is a considerable price difference.

Thanks

Have you tried to order S9F61-AU000? I think it’s no longer in stock anywhere and has been replaced by S9F61-AU002.

Curious which Redarc controller you ordered and definitely interested in the install pictures. I have Curt Echo from my no gone 2020 Highlander and I'd be curious to learn if that is plug-and-play or if you have to run power wire through a relay like the Highlander. If so, I'll probably go the Redarc route and sell the Echo. Thanks in advance, your pictures are great!
