• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... THE TELLURIDE IS MANUFACTURED IN THE U.S. -- WHY THE LONG WAITS?????

I'm not sure what that salesman's angle was or if he is completely clueless about the product he is selling but this was recently announced....

Does anyone know if the Palisade has had the same kind of success and required the same amount of production increases? I know when I pass Hyundai dealerships there’s a bunch of them sitting on the lot.

Don't think so, at least in the US reception of it (might be a winner in Korea where it's made?). The small to mid size dealer a mile or so from me now has 32 Palisade on their lot, including 10 of the highest top line model. All with prices listed on their site of under MSRP. They're starting to pile up here. Though I'm sure with some of the production slow downs on parts with the Coronavirus that it might impact some production overall.

I think it depends on the region. The dealer we got my wife's Kona from in Dec said he couldn't keep them in stock. Another dealer we cross shopped about 2 hours away said there was not as much interest as they had hoped. He said the styling could be a factor.

Exactly. Had one of them yesterday tell me all about the "Pristine" package, I kept correcting him to "Prestige". I'm like no man I don't care about each individual piece of the SX and the add ons of what the prestige package are (I already know all of that), do you actually have this car or will have it for sale? And give me the VIN so I can pull the window sticker.

After 50yrs. of "new car buying" ....one thing I know for sure is that I "ALWAYS" know more about the the vehicle than 95% of the salesman I have dealt with.....not that they were not nice people , but I DID know more about the product!

I bought my first car in 1982 in college. A '72 Capri for $300.
I have owned over 50 cars ranging from Alfa to Volvo and from Citroen and Peugeot.

My experience with salesmen is that I know "more" than 100% although I've met a few exceptional guys over the years that know as much as I do.
I don't say that with any pride, I've been a car nut since before I could read looking a pictures in my dad's Motor Trend, Popular Mechanics, etc. It is just natural for me.
For those few where cars are a passion, they are natural and full of knowledge like the enthusiasts. For many, it's a job (which is OK) and whether they're selling cars or mattresses makes no difference.

Getting back to the OP. I just searched Car Gurus. There are 189 Palisade Limited AWD within 200 miles of me and ZERO Telly-SXP. There are 37 Telly SX AWD which puts it in perspective.

We should just let the demand catch up with supply and the SX will be selling $1500 below invoice. Patience is a virtue in this case. At the moment this is seller's market for SXP. In 12 months, let's revisit this thread just to see what it would look like.

You may be correct.. but funny thing is exact words were said on this forum a year ago..

:) Oh, well, human emotions are truly unpredicatable. Ask why I bought a GM SUV, true impulse buying it was.

It’s likely a supplier issue. I’m in Canada and ordered my SXL which is the same as the SXP in the US except you have the option of Nappa or no Nappa. Got the car in under 8 weeks. The dealer did say if I wanted Nappa it would be a lot longer. Maybe the supplier can’t keep up with demand?

In the Southeast of US, the wait for white AWD SX with towing is 6+ months. What other car had a wait that long?

The only issue is too many people want this dang vehicle.

Given that new 2020 Highlander is a noisy uncomfortable cockpit failure it is, 2021 AWD Sienna is not even fully detailed out for those familes that wait big interior size + AWD, Atlas, Pilot, Ascent are not quite pulling out of realiability chaos they are. Telluride stands very good chance to stay king of the hill. Kudos to Kia engineers on this one.
