• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I live in a very nice neighborhood for the past 14 years located about 30 miles south of Boston. Finally picked up the 2022 Telly on Monday 6/6. By Tuesday evening, someone was already trying to slim jim their way into my vehicle!!! I went out this morning and saw the window seal along g the body pulled up, right where the interior handle is located and disgusting oil marks from their hands. Why do people have to suck so bad!! I'm super angry, have never have had this happen before, but now I feel like I have to sleep with one eye open and one foot on the ground. what would be the best deterrent for thieves??

Hi there
What exactly did you put on your vehicle?

That is disheartening. Really sorry you have to deal with this. I read another post recently about someone drilling into an owner’s gas tank to steal the gas.

Your question is a good one. Depending on budget, I would think that a combination tools would be helpful. But, if your budget allows, and for more peace of mind, finding a place that comes with a garage, or a gated community with onsite security could be an option.

Sorry to you had to deal with stuff like with this with your brand new car. A steering wheel lock is an affordable option for a visible deterrent if they are trying to steal the whole car. But if they are just trying to break in to steal personal items, maybe tinted windows and hiding belongings so they are not visible is the best bet.

In my opinion, moving as a solution after one failed break in attempt to a car is a bit extreme.

Old skool new skool alarm system works with the existing keyfob..not the best but i asked what did the dealer recommend and they had an outside guy come in house and install it. It has a flashing light on the steering wheel as well to let you knkw that it is armed!

That totally sucks. I put a front and rear dash cam on my vehicle. You could also try putting a fake "alarm" sticker on the windows. That might help.

The best deterrent is keep it in a garage. Where I live, all my cars are kept inside. I couldn't imagine buying a brand new car and leaving it outside 24/7. Obviously this isn't a possibility for some.

Yes everyone knows that having a garage is the best deterrent.…but glad you and everyone around you have one.
