• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Looks like the 2022 has a tongue weight of 500 lbs vs lower on the 2020 (257?). So, if I get SX with towing package I just need to install aftermarket 7 pin (don't see as factory option) and trailer e braking control? Recommend controller? The $425 towing hitch is just for the S and LX or if you don't get the towing package correct?

There was a typo in the 2020 manual. All trims regardless of tow package or not and regardless of AWD or FWD have a 500lb max tongue weight and 5,000lb max towing capacity. So according to spec you can have a FWD LX with a hitch and tow the same as a fully loaded SX. You can get just the tow option on the EX or SX. The tow package on the Telluride adds more expensive shocks which are marketed as a comfort and convenience feature on other vehicles and not a towing benefit. Even the Tellurides sold in Canada and the Middle East don’t have these self-leveling shocks as a towing package. For some reason they only did this in the US. I’m thinking they needed something to upsell the towing on the higher trims and reworked the marketing to make it look better.

If you get the 2022 SX with towing package (or towing option) as part of the order it should come with a 7-pin connection. BUT you do not get a brake controller.

If you are new to towing and considering the tow package, you may want to give this a read:

Tellurides comes with 7 pin these days.
The harness for a brake controller should come with your Telluride. I've seen some people say they didn't get it but mine included this and also a ball mount kit.

I've just acquired a 2022 SX AWD with towing pkg (love the car). It indeed came with the brake controller harness and a hitch/ball. i'd already bought the Echo wireless brake controller and will be trying that out in a few weeks towing a small travel trailer. This Echo product looks nice for swapping between vehicles. Will see.

Congratulations! Did it have 7 pin wiring harness? I ask because one on lot had 4 pin.

Yep, 7-pin good to go. I'll try to come back with info as I get the Echo Brake Controller setup and then tested. Seems like a pretty simple thing.

Just posted on another thread. The Echo Brake Controller is excellent. Super easy to just plug into a 2022 Telluride 7-pin connector, config using a smartphone app and off you go. Works just as it should.

I've been towing with the echo wireless and love it. Easy to set up and use!

This is the only flaw I've seen: https://www.etrailer.com/question-338387.html I would think Curt could come up with a physical lock of some sort, or even a way to disable it from use through the app if not paired with your phone when you park and walk away.
I agree. Seems they can do it with just the pin number. No pin number, no work for those who want to steal it. I remove mine if stopped somewhere that I can't see the to. A little inconvenience but safe.
