• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Trailer brake

So an update we installed the 7 pin adapter but we cannot find where the back up light wire is on the Telluride to attach it to the wire on the 7 pin. What this means for us is when the surge breaks activate on our trailer it still locks the wheels on the trailer when we go in reverse. We need to figure out where tis back u light wire is so we can connect to it.

Doesn't an adapter like this get you what you need? Less than $20.15805915654932710099847877939624.webp

I had two dealers tell me that installing a 7pin plug and brake controller may void the corrosion and electrical warranty... I would love to see something in writing from Kia stating otherwise.

Absolutely NOT. You can convert from 7 to 4 but not 4 to 7. Well, you may be able to make a physical conversion, but the 4pin lacks the wiring necessary to apply brakes or provide Aux +12 VDC.

I guess if you drill a hole into the sheet metal to mount your circuit breakers (like what eTrailer provides with their brake wiring kit) then I could see why that location would not be covered by a corrosion warranty...but other parts of the body? Surely they would still cover corrosion on the rest of the body.

As far as voiding electrical warranty, again I could see them not covering the one wire you have to tap into (the brake switch) but the rest of the wiring is totally independent from the vehicle wiring. You need a ground somewhere on the chassis, and power that you get directly from the battery terminal...but they should still cover the rest of the vehicle wiring.

I do understand your concern after having two dealers tell you the same thing, but it doesn’t sound right to me.
