• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... We need a vehicle for a new driver, and while MY dream car would be the Telluride....that can must be kicked down the road. Any opinions between the Sorento vs Santa Fe ...2020 vs 2021? The 2021 Sorento looks like a mini Telluride to me....thoughts?

Thanks.

Both the 2021 Sorento and Santa Fe look pretty sweet...if you don't need the room that only the Telluride provides.

The 2021 Sorento is completely (and impressively) redesigned and the 2021 Santa Fe has received a fair number of updates (looks like a mini Palisade on the inside). They haven’t been released for sale in North America yet, so if you need something really soon, chances are neither one will be an option. But if you don’t really care about the latest and greatest, you likely will be able to get a great deal on a 2020 model of either of these.

I really like the 2020 Santa Fe, best interior space in terms of roominess and utility I have seen in a 2 row, impressively comfortable.

2020 Sorento was also very comfortable but I found the 3rd row to be for kids only, good utility with the 3rd row folded down though.

I haven't seen a 2021 of either in person yet but they both look cool. Considering how much Kia/Hyundai have been killing it lately I expect them to be very impressive. When the 2021s start rolling out the best deal might be to see if you can find a 2020 still on a lot that the dealer is dying to get rid of, a sweet deal on a 2020 Santa Fe could be an utterly fantastic buy in terms of value.

For a new driver I'm sure you can find something used that has all of the safety bells and whistles for far less. New drivers tend to depreciate cars remarkably quickly.

So even though I personally purchased a 2020 Telluride, if I did it over again (not that there is a thing wrong at all with my Telly), I don’t think I’d purchase a 2020 MY of any vehicle with how this year is going overall...I’d wait it out for a 2021 personally, lol. Again, I’m a bit superstitious, but damn there is a curse on this year...
