• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I've been using Google Home to start my car in the morning the last few weeks. It seemed to be less frustrating then using the app. The last few days I got a message that UVO is unavailable. When I went to check my setup in my Google Home the UVO link is no longer there and it does not appear when I do a search. Anyone have any idea why?

Was never available for the Canadian market, I've been searching Google for the UVO skill for weeks. Perhaps it was pulled from the US side as well.

The Home app recently changed so hopefully this works for you. Open Google Home app. Press mic icon. Click icon in lower left hand corner of screen. Click icon in the upper right hand corner of screen. You should be on a screen to manage your google account. Click on Services. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and click on Explore. Search for Uvo. You will then have to link your Uvo account to Google Home and setup a four digit pin. I initially had an issue because my Uvo account was set up with my phone number. For some reason in Google Home you can only use your email to link the account so I had to setup a new Uvo account and delete the one setup with the phone number. Once setup up you say things like Ok Google ask Uvo to start my car at 72 or Ok Google ask Uvo to lock my car. Home will then ask you to say the four digit pin and then complete your request.

James216,

Thanks it works perfect. Much appreciated.

Have you ever gotten this to work in Canada? I just followed instructions above but Uvo does not show up.

I have the Google Home app for iOS. It does not give you any option to search for third-party services. Only allows searching for devices that are compatible with Google Assistant.

Google searched UVO Google Assistant and was able to find the service you can link to your google account.

Then I eventually realized there was a stand-alone iOS app for Google Assistant. If you use the explore button on the bottom right of that app, you will be able to search for UVO as well.

Thanks but no luck for us Canadians...

You could download that way but the commands wouldn’t reach the vehicle.

Correct, there is app sites out there also.

UVO USA and UVO Canada are completely separate.

I can’t even use the cool Kia owners site, wont accept my VIN

That connectivity will likely go away unless you do a paid subscription, at $25/month or more, after your 1 year complimentary ends.

Just like I found out, even after finding evidence to the contrary (see below), that the ability to dictate outgoing text messages requires the $30/mo plan to continue after the complimentary ends.

Google Assistant (or Alexa) remote start can be had for much cheaper subscription with Carlink 6 service as well. But it requires initial investment of installing a connected remote start module. (ie accessorides) Not sure if available outside the US though as well.

So does this only work with the “UVO” app or does it work with the Kia Access app that runs the remote start?

Kia Access is an app you control using the touchscreen on your Android phone or iPhone. UVO skill on Alexa or UVO app for Google Assistant are supported services that can be controlled by the voice assistants on your smart speaker or hub. It isn’t called Kia Access for the voice assistants, but they all use the same login credentials. You will also need to set up an additional four digit pin to use when executing commands on the voice assistants.

Canadians. If you change your Alexa location to USA you can use the app. You will however loose your Canadian specific Alexa skills

Hi, are you able to show the details for how to make Kia UVO worked with Alexa?

I did set Alexa location in States but still can't find Kia UVO skill. Some more settings should I do?

Thanks a lot.
