• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Just got my dark moss EX. Love it. But I’m coming from an 08 pathfinder with zero tech. Anyway I’m just wondering what the UVO thing is exactly and is it something a tech newbie really needs to sign up for. Any thoughts or input appreciated.

Also precisely track everywhere you go, with speed, time, date, routes, etc ...

It is a service that Kia provides free for the first year, after that you have to pay a monthly fee to continue using the service.

You can access the UVO service either through a web page Kia Owners Portal
or a dedicated phone app (iOS or Android)

Some of the functions of the UVO service are:
- remotely start your car (with the option to turn on heat/AC)
-remotely lock/unlock your doors
-Phone alerts if you leave your doors unlocked
-Schedule times for the car to remotely start (i.e. every morning 10 minutes before you leave for work)
-The ability to Geo tag your car's parked location, so you can find it using the UVO app built in map

In 2019 the UVO worked well enough, but it was not always dependable and sometimes would take forever to sign you into the phone app. Kia has released several updates to the app. (I can only speak for the iOS app) over the last year and the service has become faster and less buggy.
However, I personally feel being charged $22 a month for the service is wrong (I will not start ranting again on that subject)

So, after a year is there a way to remote start, and lock/unlock the vehicle? Does the UVO link with Kia access app to make that happen?

The UVO service is the only way to remotely start the car (unless you have a dedicated auto starter installed)
I am not sure what functionality the UVO app would have without an active subscription. (you might still be able to receive recall notices, scheduled maintenance alerts)

Thanks so much. I am really happy and highly impressed with the vehicle, but it’s a bit disappointing to know that you have to spend $270.00 a year to remote start your vehicle on a cold morning after a year, even at the highest SX trim that I just purchased. The other functions (to me) are not as necessary. We have a 2nd level trim Honda Pilot that has an auto start built into the key fob, and I would assume this feature is standard with many other vehicles.

It is the one annoying thing I have encountered with the Telluride/Kia. The car performs brilliantly, Kia just needs to adjust their pricing model for the UVO service.

Owned the car for a few months. Really only use the connectivity app for remote start and remote locking of doors.

If you like to keep the car running while you step out to do something, the remote lock on the app is the only way to do it, aside from popping off the door handle trim to use the physical key.

On the little hang tag hanging from the mirror when I took delivery of the telly last week it seems to suggest the basic service is free for five years. Maybe they have changed it from one year to five now.

Pretty sure the basic/Lite service has always been free for 5 years since the car was available. The Ultimate service is what is free for 1 year, which is the one that matters with remote start and all the other non-important add-on features.

The Plus service will get you remote start as well, but still pricey. Try emailing or calling Kia Uvo support for a discount when you need to renew. That’s what I’ll be doing.
