• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Vehicle Controller Error in Settings?

Same issue here. It is also present when trying to change the temperature unit to Celsius.
That’s because (similarly to what I pointed out in the first response on this thread) that function is changed via the instrument cluster and not the infotainment screen.

User settings > other > temperature unit

Yup, this worked!

Just wish the error message in the infotainment system would be clearer (nor not have the settings you can't change from there even visible there).

This is the root of the problem… that on 2022s, something is broken somewhere that has the infotainment showing settings that it isn’t supposed to on a Telluride. That’s why you get errors when you try to modify any of the afflicted settings, because the car has no idea what to do. That also explains why you don’t get a helpful error.

Hopefully a fix is on the way for you guys (if it doesn’t exist already).

The Ambient Lighting change of color and dim while driving option is not available in the cluster controls and it broken in the infotainment setup. Getting the "Vehicle Controller Error." Setting(s) cannot be applied. Please try again later." As mentioned, trying later does not work. Kia...fix this!

I believe the ambient lighting dims/isn't able to stay bright when going into Drive; thus being unable to uncheck the box due safety issues

I was/hoping starting with 22 they allow it to stay bright as an option but somehow didn’t program it in correctly. I can’t imagine how that checked box was added by accident. I assumed only the 22s have that option displayed.

I am not able to change the color of the ambient lighting. 2022 SXP NF. Is anyone with a 2022 able to change the color?
User Error! I misunderstood what ambient lighting is. There are two ambient lighting systems in my '22 SXP NF. The one that is adjusted in the Infotainment -> Setup/Vehicle/Lighting menu is for the LED that is on the dash and doors. The ambient lighting that lights up the floor and the cup holders is controlled by a button in the holder just in front cup holder in the console. Hope this helps someone else who like me didn't know how to work their car. ;-)

I believe the lighting for the floor is called mood lighting, ambient are on dash/doors.

Thanks! Sounds reasonable. A bit odd to me that 1) They both aren't controlled the same way. Perhaps, either both through the Infotainment and buttons or just one of these. 2) Nothing in the Index of the Owner's Manual or Features & Functions Guide for Ambient or Mood Lighting. Even under Lighting there's no mentioned of either. I didn't even know about that button initially and still have not been able to find it in any of the manuals.

Ambient is standard on SX and is covered on manual. Mood lighting is an added on option, so maybe that’s why it’s not.

Which manual and where in that manual?

That interior light kit is entirely separate because it’s an accessory. You can add it to any Telluride. It should have come with a little card somewhere with your manuals. If it didn’t, here you go:

Excellent! Thanks. No, I do not have this card in any of my manuals or in the glove box.

I know there hasn't been any activity recently, but I was wondering if anyone else with the "Vehicle Controller Error" has had any resolution?

Our 2022 SX has had this issue since we got it. The dealer took a "copy" (my understanding is its a snapshot of how we have everything configured) of our head unit and sent it to corporate. That was about a month ago. I called today for an update, and was told corporate closed our case with no further instructions. The service department employee I talked to said he was going to ask the manager to reopen the case.

Before we bought our 2022 SX we owned a 2020 SX that did not have this issue. There is a big difference between the two driving at night. I am very disappointed that our first service ticket was closed without resolution. Is anyone having better luck getting this resolved then us?

Just got my 22’ AWD SX/P/NF/T in gravity grey/black napa last Tuesday. It’s a week old with 130 miles. I have only experienced the error for ambient lighting. I’ll be taking it in. Software unknown at the time of this post. Says try again later…I’ve tried several times over the last week and nothing has changed, same error.
So! My initial post here did not happen. I ended up missing the appointment due to work schedule conflict and attempted to reschedule but was told it would be a month or so before they could get me in to just take a look at it.

Fast forward to yesterday (02/22/2022), I took the Telluride in for its interval service and a software/firmware patch update. My local Kia dealer techs did not have the information on hand to fix the issue, they reached out to a corporate resource and got the instructions on what to do. I am without fail, going in on Friday (02/25/2022) to get the update installed. I’d do it myself as I have found it online through Kia but I’ll have the dealer do it for liability/warranty purposes. They screw something up then they can fix it without an argument. So more to come, hoping they can get the updates Installed without issue.

I haven't updated since my last trip to the dealer. I called the dealer, and they told me to bring it in as they had received the software fix. After they "fixed it" the dim while driving option was gone. At first, I didn't think much of it as I didn't want that option anyways. The problem is the lights still auto-dim when not in park. The code didn't fix the issues. It just got rid of the option not dim while driving. I wonder if any of the newer 2022s have that option to dim while driving, and if so does it work? Or does the ambient lights on all 2022 Tellurides now dim when not in park?

That is how it has always worked, dims out of park. The reason some initially sold 2022 models had that option at all in the menus was likely an oversight by the software engineers. Since they like to reuse the same software and user documents across all Kia car models when possible. As evident in the Feature and Functions guides where some parts absolutely no sense for the Telluride (ie. tilting headrests).

Maybe the Sorento or Seltos actually has the option to stay bright out of park. 🤷‍♂️

The frustrating thing is we had a 2020 Telluride, and the ambient lights didn't dim out of park. Every time I drive our 22 at night I miss our 2020 Telluride ha
