• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Vehicle intermittently won’t start

Hello again,

Got my car back from the dealer couple of days ago. Was told that they found nothing, but it hasn't acted up since. Don't know, but it was failing consistently. As long as it is working, I am good. Would have liked to know what they adjusted or did to make this stop, but seems likely they didn't want to tell, so likely something they missed in assembly. Best guess. Hopefully no others will have this problem.

Regards,
Greg
Well, car worked fine for about two weeks and then would not start, again, yesterday afternoon. Checked the battery and was reading 10.5 volts. Something is draining the battery, intermittently. Took it into the dealer again today. They were able to see it not start, even after driving it there (charging the battery). Guess we will see what they can find.

Does your car have an aftermarket alarm? That could be the problem.

Hello, Update: Since the dealership replaced the battery, it has worked well for two weeks now. Seems had a bad internal connection. So far so good.

If/when you can catch it, a "voltage drop" test can ferret such out. Also a very common issue (unsure about my new-ish Kia), is a bad engine ground strap.

In all of my years, I too heard the all too familiar; "But my lights, and the radio etc. work." Keep in mind those items are trivial, 20-50 Amps at best.
Starting a cold engine not in tune: 200-350 Amps. It's the HARDEST thing your battery has to do.

Hi, Yes, starting is much harder than running an engine. Sadly, was told that they had tested it the first time I had it in. Seems the test didn't catch a bad intermittent internal connection. FWIW.

Hello, Have a 2024 Telluride that would start this morning. Saying things like "collision avoidance system" and "ESC" error. Check batter and disconnected it to reset things, no help. Fuses look fine and brake is locked up solid. Anyone else see these symptoms???
Our 23 Telly is currently at the dealer for same. shut down while driving and that message came up. Dealer diagnosed as bad alternator and positive battery cable they never seen that before!!! Thankful under warranty don't know why they have to wait to get approval on filing warranty claim!!! but parts two+ days out WHEN APPROVED!!!

The above reply is solid advice and a great place to start. My issue took 6 months, the inclusion of federal and state agencies and a lot of "aggressive interactions" and the lead engineer from Korea to finally learn that it was a faulty IBU assembly unit. Luckily, your issue all though similar, doesn't sound like what I had going on. In any case, I wish you the best of luck, I know how frustrated you must be.
Yes, try replacing the starter relay. Will eliminate that and it is fairly cheap and easy to try. Mine failed completely and car had to be towed.

Regards,
Greg

Hello Ronnie,

Sad to say that this not starting happened yet again. Checked and nothing was left on, not any of the lights, accessories or anything showing as on. Jump started it and it runs fine, for now. Afraid heat is not the issue for me - live in Michigan and summer isn't here yet. Thinking something is not shutting down properly as it runs fine unless it sits for too long overnight. Alternator seems to be putting out just fine, connections are clean and tight and starter works fine when jump starting it. Thanks for the suggestions, looking like I will have to make a service appointment for this. Just too many bells, whistles and gizmos now days and they all can go bad.
Having the same issue now. Any update

I just bought a 2022 EX Kia Telliride and I’m having an issue where the car randomly will not start. When you push the push start to start the car you hear one loud click and then the car loses all power dashboard and everything goes blank no power l. You have to jump the car to get it to power back up. Once jumped it will start fine for a few days and then randomly do it again where it will not start

Consider having the battery load tested and replace the starter relay (pretty cheap) to eliminate that.

Hello,

Took 5 tow in's and 9 months but the dealer seems to have fixed this problem on my car. I was told replacing the starter was what finally did it.
Seems it was never tuning all the way off and draining the battery. FWIW.
Regards,
Greg
