What vehicles did you consider / come from when buying your Telluride?

Lower level of Tahoe‘s and Yukon’s can be had in the high 50s low 60s range, that may have more features in one area and less and in another. That’s not such a big step up financially for a much more substantial vehicle with probably 30 to 40% more room and an engine that can deliver you 25+ mpg…It’s not the answer for most Telluride owners, I’m just saying that is a viable alternative for those willing to spend a little more and getting a whole lot more depending on what you are looking for. I was convinced a telluride was for me, but after spending a little more I feel like I got a whole lot more vehicle. A choice you have to live with for a long time so a few more dollars here and there isn’t that critical…

I have access to my FIL’s Tahoe LTZ — it drives all right. It would be a tighter fit in my garage though… I nixed all the full-size SUV’s for this reason.

I was certain I was going to buy a Toyota 4Runner Nightshade. I've driven body-on-frame/true 4 wheel drive vehicles for 30 years: Mitsubishi Montero in the 80's, Isuzu Trooper II in the 90's, Wrangler, Liberty. I only checked out the Telluride because a friend of mine who is into cars (and whose opinion I trust) suggested I'd hate myself if I didn't drive one. I knew next to nothing about the brand. Walked into the dealership unannounced, had the keys to their SX tossed to me, and 20 minutes later, I knew I was in trouble

I went to my appointment at Toyota next. The Telluride was superior in ride, engine performance, features, and overall interior luxury. And was around $5k less for, in my opinion, significantly more. Now I am still not sure if I'll miss the tow hooks, 4 Wheel Low, and actual skid plates of a more "truck-y" vehicle but we'll see in a couple of months. Right now, I'm 2 weeks into ownership and I am very, very happy with my EX AWD N/T/P.

We drive 11 hrs 1-2x/year to see family, and sometimes drive 16 hrs to Colorado. After having done those routes in our 4Runner, I can tell the Telluride is tons plusher. I would feel so beat up after hours of sitting in the 4Runner! Now if I were to get stuck in slush, I would want the 4Runner, but I generally don’t push the mechanical limits of any of my cars.

Well if it it wasn’t a 2021, then alright is correct. The new version is light years ahead of 2020 and older models, ride and roominess wise.
I realize Telly and Tahoe certainly aren’t the same…I’m just saying for not a lot of money difference, the room difference and capabilities are substantial for families… and with kids and stuff,who can’t use more room….?

Competition in the marketplace is a great thing! I like seeing having options.

I like space, but usability is an equally big factor for me. If I need to hand my kid something, it can be a stretch in the Tahoe. When I see my kids struggle with the Tahoe's doors, it affirms the choice of mid-size SUV for my family. Perhaps when they get to be teens, then we can consider something bigger. Although my garage isn't getting any bigger, so garage size remains a constraint.

My FIL will likely replace the Tahoe with a Tahoe/Yukon in a few years, and I can take it for a test drive!

I had back to back Range Rover Sports. While I loved that car, I was not paying 75k for a new one. The Telly has way better technology at way lesss money. Both my Rovers had V8, which I hope Telly adds one day. I have 2022 SX nightfall black- I love it. I drive on highways a lot and it’s pretty smooth.

Similarly equipped, it’s a big difference in price.
