• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I'm a couple days away from delivery.

What were the first settings that you felt the need to adjust?

Examples:
Rear occupant alert
Beeping or lights upon locking
Driver assistance
Mood lighting
Infotainment settings

What drove you crazy? What took a while to figure out? Is there anything you wish you knew about from the beginning that you learned later?

Let's hear about it.

I immediately turned off the rear occupant alert and didn't realize what SCC was till a week into owning it. I came from a 10 year old Traverse, so learning all the new gadgets is fun. Definitely loving my new ride!

Honestly most of the stuff didn't matter too much. The main thing was obviously seats & mirrors, and then phone pairing / Carplay. Get your UVO account set up so you can experience the joy of extremely delayed remote start & lock/unlock.

The only thing that mildly annoyed me was the two-click unlock for all doors. Since I have kids, I'm often opening rear doors first and my prior car unlocked all doors with one click. The telluride does it too and there's a setting somewhere in the steering wheel controls that allows you to change it.

The rest is just bells and whistles that you can figure out as it comes up. A lot of the driver convenience features have simple on/off buttons. The infotainment system seems complex but is fairly straightforward - you can rearrange some icons and widgets if you want, but there's no crazy secrets to uncover.

What's SCC?

One of the first things I did was turn off the “welcome sound” and the easy enter/exit seat. Both are annoying to me.

What's SCC?
Smart cruise control, which in the Telluride is the default.

Thanks. My '01 Lexus ES300 and I are a little out of date with the technology

Ha - weird thing about this.

Mine was originally off when I took delivery. A few days later I was playing around with it and turned it on. Thought it was a little annoying but left it on and eventually got used to it.

Then yesterday on a whim I decided to turn it off. Tonight while running an errand it took me an extra couple of seconds before exiting my car to make sure I turned the engine off.

Turns out I had subconciously trained myself to expect that noise as an indicator that the car was off, and without it (and with a fairly quiet cabin) I couldn't tell if the car was running or not!

Good stuff so far!

These are the kinds of things you don't get to figure out on a test drive. It takes time to learn about this stuff. Hopefully the responses here will not only help new owners but answer questions for perspective owners as well.

Yes, smart thread you started @NDBlackEX!

First thing I did was to turn the Lane Keep Assist (LKA) OFF. The nudging from the LKA around a curve drove me crazy.
I've never owned a car with that but I've driven some rentals with it. That's getting turned off.

I had a Rav4 rental and it was on. A car ahead of me made a last second decision to turn into a gas station driveway. One of those situations where you just need to scoot into the neighboring lane a bit to miss their rear corner as you pass. A maneuver I've pulled off many times. Well, the sensation of the steering wheel fighting you when you have had to make a quick decision was unnerving.

Thank you!

Our newest car is a 2015. By 2017 a lot had changed in the automotive world. Upgraded tech and safety features were more widely available. Even if you drive a newer car, the brand new stuff can be quite a bit different.

Yup, exactly...but definitely keep lane following assist (LFA) ON to use with the smart cruise control (SCC). You’ll love it.

I found my car on here, Mitch Weiland out of Minneapolis posted some incoming rides so I snatched one up. I told my aunt who had been pondering the Telluride for some time that they had a couple Moss coming in and she asked for the contact info. She put down a deposit the same day as me. We're getting the same car just different colors.

Even though our ETAs were a week apart, they both came early and at the same time. I'm 200 miles away from the dealer, she's another 200 miles west of me. They're delivering them to us at my place. Friday was convenient for her to head down to pick it up. I wasn't expecting it until the end of the month anyway so waiting a week to take delivery didn't bother me.

I see. So that original EX-P you got was from a local dealer, correct?

Yes. Kind of a bummer because they offered like $400 under MSRP but as soon as I found out it was a 2020 I started looking for a 21 and found this one about 10 days before my order came in. The 21 is going to be about $1200 more but by the time I upgraded to 7 pin, put auto start in and changed the headlights, it's a wash. I also get a few more accessories than what I initially ordered. Nothing I really wanted but at least I'm paying more and getting more rather than just paying a market adjustment or something.
