  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Who are these people that are paying $10k over MSRP for a USED EX with 25,000 on the clock, and thinks they are SAVING $1,250? WHO?!

I guess the Kia dealer across the street is selling one for $52,300? :(

Isn't that an SX with the orange DRL's?

An EX with Premium Package would have LED headlights like an SX and presumably the same amber DRL.

But those look like base EX 18" wheels.....the plot thickens!

Remember all the people that are excited to get as much as they paid for their Telluride USED? They are getting ridiculous trade ins or even outright buys of their used cars right now. The companies/dealers paying these inflated trade ins are counting on reselling them at silly high prices. This is how it works.

The dealer near me had four brand new ones, priced $10,000 OVER MSRP. The next day, they were all sold. They also had two used Tellurides, both over MSRP. They sold them first.

This craziness will continue until people STOP paying these inflated prices. Its hard to me to blame the dealer. They are there to make money. And if they can easily get an extra $10,000 OVER MSRP out of a car, they are going to do it.

As I told the sales person at that dealer, "if I have to drive across country to find one not marked up, I will do it. I enjoy a road trip!"

Paying 10k over MSRP is just insane...btw was does @Tellmeride win the award for longest thread title? :D

Got an email on monday from a dealer (not the one I ordered through) advertising a 2020 S with 43k miles on it for 44,000. That was after a 3k "internet discount", whatever that means. So I looked at the original sticker and the MSRP at original sale was 36 and change. So it ends up being 7-8k over the 2020 MSRP with 43k miles on it. Called about it on Tuesday hoping to test drive it as I haven't driven any Telluride yet and it was already gone. Market is absolutely bananas right now.

It's KRAZY ... makes me think I should sell my 2020 SX-P AWD ... I only have 3700 mi on the Odometer! 😱 Wonder what I could get for it?!?!?

It takes just a few minutes online to check the websites of Carvana, Carmax, Vroom, shift, ALGO (auto lender go), givemetheVIN and autonation.

Copy/paste your VIN or license plate.

It wouldn't open the VIN from KIA USA site. I looked at Michelew's spreadsheet of US production from day 1. It is not a US VIN. It is listed as a Canadian EX AWD like the ones that they were selling in the Salt Lake area. Original MSRP of about 42K (From a VIN check site)

Has anyone talked to someone who bought a used telluride for a ridiculous price?

This is how I look at it. People today expect to drive their brand new car home the same day. Being that the telluride can take up to 12 months to arrive. Makes an easy sales pitch for any would be buyer. My bet is salesman are telling people an exaggerated wait time for a new one thus why not buy this one right here in front of you, it will be gone in the next few hours.

With all the hype around the telluride this is what I believe is happening.

It's all about instant gratification or to be the one that has the first one in the county, or the block. And for some simply having an expiring lease and a need to have a replacement.

My shoes but I take responsibility for not ordering earlier. Still not paying any “market adjustment” though… compromised on color choices to pick an incoming unit that wasn’t presold.

In spring of 2019, I drove THE ONLY Tellmeride in my area, no one knew what it was, routinely got stopped by inquisitive people pretty much every time I take it out, and never saw another one on the road for many months... then suddenly things changed and they are as common as 911s. 🏆

Tonkin Kia in Gladstone, OR has a 2020 SXP in Dark Moss/Black with 48k miles that they have listed on their site at $56k, but are actually selling it for $63k on the lot. They actually bragged that people are buying them at that price, but they’ve been sitting on it for almost a month now, along with others. Not quite “flying out of here” like they claim. They’re also buying some at auction in Canada to bring down, and buying MSRP from other dealers across the country and selling “pre-owned” for $8-20k over with 10-50mi on them. Shady 💩.

2020 SXP at a local dealer in OR with 48k miles listed online as $56k, but actually asking $63k on the lot. 😳

you will be surprised at the amount of desperation and glee people are willing to go for so they can sign up for "small payments a month" for 84 months and show their friends they're riding around in a new whip
