• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Trying to get an idea of who has already done this a sense our vehicle does not come with that which is stupid since it has a tow package 🤔
If you have done this what are you using and how did you run your wires ?

thank you 🤙

I too am mad at Kia for claiming 5000lbs towing and then only providing a 4-pin. I've seen videos of stock 2022's and it looks like they have a different connector. Possibly a 7-pin.

Adding a 7-pin to a Telluride looks like a real pain (and expensive). I'm not happy with Kia about this.

Yes the 2022 has a 7 pin connector but the dealership gives you the break control wiring in the glove box. It doesn't come with a break control, that appears to be an after market purchase.

Here are a few pictures the 2022 set up.

It's not an expensive upgrade. There are plenty of posts by members discussing how to do this correctly. The Telluride is very capable, but does need modifications to tow even with the "tow package". I think it should have been called something different. But, the price is quite cheap for the mods - they put the money in the wrong place in the shocks rather than electronics and wiring to be truly tow-ready.

It looks like the 2022 Tellurides come with a 7-pin trailer connector. This is a great improvement. I understand they don't have a brake controller, but they provide something in the glove box. I don't know any more details about what is provided in the glove box. Do you know? I have a 2022 on order.

Yes, the 2022 comes with a 7 pin. Here is the harness that should be in glove box.

Although, many members have also had success towing with the Curt Echo Wireless brake controller.

I'm just back from a seven-night trailer trip in a 2022 Telluride. Used a Curt Echo Wireless Brake Controller, pulling a 3500-lb Rockwell GeoPro travel trailer. The Telluride pulled the trailer easily and the brake controller was just great. Easy to use the app to tune the max braking and sensitivity.

In all, the Telluride exceeds my expectations for easy towing of a lightweight travel trailer. We pulled up and over the Crater Lake rim which is a climb over 6000 feet. We did Oregon and Norcal Mendocino coast hwy with 15-mph hairpins both up and downhill. Worked out just great.

Did you use a WDH or a regular hitch and sway bar?

That's great to hear that the Telluride pulls a trailer well, even in the mountains. Thanks for the report!

No wdh, no sway bar. Just a ball on a pretty big riser. Yes Telluride tow pkg with self-levelling rear elements. Was very stable, very comfortable.

I've towed many things (boats, tent trailers, travel trailers, U-Hauls, construction trailers...) behind any number of cars and trucks. This trip was a breeze.

Great. My Telly is a 2020 EX with AWD and Tow pkg and I tow a 3500 lb Hummingbird with regular hitch and sway bar. No problems on steep climbs or curves. The Echo controller works well for me. Thanks for your reply.

My 2021 came with a 7-pin, so it’s not nee for 2022.
