• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... After waiting 7 months I finally picked up my new 2022 Wolf Gray EX and my salesperson told me a firmware update to integrate Wireless Android Auto is coming. Google searches yielded no additional information on this topic, so I don't know if he's in the know or just talking out of his ass.

Does anybody have any information regarding this?

Thanks in advance!

I’ll just link my old response to a similar query. I haven’t changed my mind since.

I believe he is talking out of his ass. I don't think it's possible to integrate Wireless AA with a firmware update. I wish they could.

I’d venture to say he’s ass talking for sure. I’m not exactly sure what is “under the hood” of the infotainment center but I’d imagine that a software/firmware update wouldn’t enable that feature without the hardware capability. In other words, if there was hardware factory installed for wireless CarPlay/Android previously, why the hell didn’t get enabled sooner? I’d absolutely love to see that feature on my 22’ AWD SX/Pre/NF but unlikely from my perspective and I haven’t heard a lot of rumors behind a software update. An alternative option is to get a wireless adapter to relay CarPlay/Android wirelessly.

It doesn’t make sense why Kia didn’t have wireless CarPlay/Android…there is a wireless charging pad. Defeats the purpose of hopping in the car, selecting your destination in Maps, placing your phone on the wireless charging pad, and drive. Instead, I must be tethered via cable to use CarPlay, hence, wireless charging pad is rendered near useless. Although I usually charge my AirPods or wife’s phone using the wireless charger. Anyhow, Kia needs to bring this feature for sure.

That’s just my take, you must have hardware that can support the software, and vise versa.

Ummm........... No

You would need wifi in the vehicle for wireless Carplay/AA from the factory.

The 10.25" radio has the hardware for wireless - I went into the engineering settings to check. It's definitely enable-able via a firmware upgrade.
