• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Wireless Apple Play/Android Auto

Ordered from Amazon https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08FG2XRBP/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. which appears to be from the same manufacturer as the wireless device mentioned in this thread. Instructions are identical. I get wide screen CarPlay but I had to tap the Media(?) button to get it. Why the question mark? I still have to play with this some more. I my have tapped another button to make it wide screen, I will provide a follow up with more details. First blush; the device appears to work fine albeit small latency. I also need to figure out an easy way to switch between two phones.
I ordered this as well, it works but hate how the led on the unit blinks constantly when connected. Will have to break out the electrical tape!

Carsifi has 8 Android wireless devices in stock. I just ordered mine.
I have received an email from Carsifi offering an early bird discount, so it will be $79. Guess I will skip.
To be honest, I don't mind my current setup, and how the phone is connected.

I use the CPlay2Air adapter with iOS 14.whatever and I don't have any issues.
This is what I use and it works 98% of the time. Best $100 accessory you can buy.

Just finished a 1,200 two day trip using wireless Airplay adapter which works very well; however, I encountered something unexpected. We all know that wireless CarPlay tasks your battery so you need to keep it charged. The Telluride’s wireless charging fits the bill. Just lay your phone down on top of it when you hop in the vehicle, wireless CarPlay connects and you‘re good to go.

After a couple of hours using Waze and Spotify I get a notice on my Telly’s display and on my phone. “Temperature iPhone needs to cool down before you can use it“. Now my plastic protective case probably contributed to the overheating by not allowing the aluminum body to dissipate the heat as it should but the constant use and wireless charging were certainly contributing factors.

Just keep this in mind on long road trips. I think day to day use you are good. Just don’t be caught off guard while using a nav app traveling through an interchange in an unfamiliar city.

Tip: If you use Waze on an iPhone, at least with a wireless Airplay adapter like mine (Carlink II), you should set your destination on the iPhone app instead of AirPlay. Doing so renders the map on the Airplay screen. Setting your destination on the Airplay screen or by voice only gives you text directions.

So right now the Tellurides require a cable connected to the phone for Apple CarPlay/Android Auto?

Sorry, I haven’t used Apple CarPlay/Android Auto on any car yet so I don’t know how it works. I’ve seen other cars offer it. Are they wireless?

Yes the Telluride requires a cable for Apple Carplay, but there are 2 adapters available to make it wireless (Car2Play and Carlink 2.0) both are around $100. I just bought the Carlink 2.0 for $95

Thx for the info. it It the same for other manufacturers? I am quite surprised as the Telluride is loaded with high tech. I saw it on the rental Expedition but didn’t try to use it.

Is there any major difference between the two that you are aware of? I am legit switching to apple all because of how much the shitty android auto experience is on my telluride (thanks kia!)

Carlinkit 2.0 is slightly more modern with rounded edges and a removeable USB-C to USB-A cord. CPLAY2Air has a non-removable USB-A cord. CPLAY2Air is actually a white labelled Carlinkit 1.0 so if you want the latest and greatest go with Carlinkit 2.0, but in reality whatever you can get cheaper is likely just fine as I don't believe there are any differences from a functionality and experience standpoint.

If it's rebooting all the time it might be the wiring harness. I did the same thing and bought an iphone and it kept rebooting too. Went back to android. The wiring harness that connects to the panel was pinched and had to be replaced. Works awesome now.

I bought the Carlinkit 2.0 during my nesting phase, and love the convenience. I mounted it to the inside of the storage cover as suggested here and whether I use the charging pad, cup holder, or keep the phone in a pocket, it always syncs up.

I recently bought the carlinkit 2.0 and have had no major issues and love the convenience of not having to take my phone out of my pocket. So much better than plugging it in each time I get in my Tellie. Like a earlier post, I used velcro and placed on the inside of the lid where the charger is so it stays out of the way and charging pad is still accessible.

I experienced phone overheating in the Qi charger. I have an iPhone 12 Pro Max and while streaming music and using Waze over CarPlay to a wireless adapter, the phone shut off with an overheat message after about 40 min or use. I put the phone up to the AC vent to cool it down, phone reconnected to Wireless CarPlay after about 5 min or cooling. Was really hoping to avoid having to plug the phone into usb!!!!

Two things... first, I ordered the Car2Play over a month ago and haven't received it. I emailed them and they have been responsive, but they aren't able to give me any information on where my package is or when I should expect it. I'd avoid buying direct from them for anyone looking. Not sure what'll happen from here.

Second a question... I noticed with ApplePlay that when I type a saved address into the google maps, it doesn't show up. For example, I have a friend's address labeled in my google maps with his name (let's say it's Tim's House as the label). In Gmaps on the phone, I just type Tim's house and it pops right up. With ApplePlay, it forces me to type in the full address. Anyone have a work around for this? Just curious since lots of my local trips are saved that way.
