  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Hey all! Happy to join this community of Telly owners.
We just brought home our Black 2021 SX w/ Prestige PKG (Nightfall) yesterday after an excruciating 9 months of waiting. We actually started shopping for a 2020 model back May of last year but were finally able to pull the trigger on ordering one in December. Through pandemic delays and model-year switches it was a long wait, reading glowing review after glowing review. At least we knew we had chosen the right car, it was just frustrating not getting to drive it sooner. I have spent way too much time just sitting in it and thumbing through the owners manual, giggling like a school boy.
Our last new car was a 2007 Honda CR-V EX-L and we still have it. We've been a Honda family for years and years but Honda has gotten a little stale (and pricey for what you get). I've kept an eye on KIA (and Hyundai) for a while now and felt like in the last few years they've finally hit their stride (hitting the right blend of styling, reliability, quality, and affordability). Then I saw the Telluride announced and fell in love.
Couldn't be happier with the end result.

We are actually considering a Seltos to replace the CR-V when it finally gives up the ghost.20200829_173740-01.webp

Congrats! It’s absolutely beautiful and I am hoping I will be just as happy when mine comes in! Not sure I have what it takes to wait 9 long months though...

Happy camper I'll bet! That's a beautiful beast!

Since you ordered in December and Nightfall wasn't available back then. Care to share the details around how you switched to the NF? Did you back out of your prior order and pick up a NF allocation your dealership had incoming? What was your original order for back in December?

Our original order was for the 2020 SX w/Prestige in black. We were told about a month ago that the factory stopped making 2020 models and had switched to 2021s. Our sales guy said they would be getting in several different 2021 models initially that weren't private orders yet as the inventory started to become available (different colors/tiers). He found out one that was scheduled to arrive was a black SX w/Prestige ... but it also happened to be the new Nightfall edition. He asked if we wanted him to hold it for us. I wasn't even aware of the Nightfall edition at the time. It ticked all our prior orders boxes plus some. It was like a reward for being patient :P Another bonus was they added remote start to the key fob for 2021.

@TheBeerMonkey congratulations. I can only imagine your excitement with this gorgeous Telluride.

Congrats!

What did you pay?
I believe it was right around $53k with the added cargo tray and trailer hitch add-ons. Or sales guy recommended going to a third-party tint shop to get the driver and passenger windows tinted cheaper.

Indeed! I can't stop staring at it and sitting in it and taking pictures of it :p
In fact during the whole purchasing process other customers kept coming around the side to look at it and we let a few couples sit in it. It was the only Nightfall edition they had on the lot at that point.

So I'm not the only one who sits in a new car like a little kid pretending to drive as it's parked in the garage?

I hear that! I never thought I'd be seriously considering, in fact putting a downpayment on, a Kia.
