Wrong Cars being delivered???

My understanding on maybe the wrong vehicle ordered....

I sat next to my salesperson when they punched it all in. The KIA ordering system is not straight forward. The code words are not understood to be normal. Regular people would expect say a code BLK would equal BLACK. and GRY would equal Gray. That is not the case. Say code 22Y equals BLACK and code 26W equals GRAY.
The whole order coding is way more difficult than it should. So, your salesperson really needs to be on their game with understanding the KIA special ordering process.
It also seems that whatever Telluride shows up at a dealership, it is sold anyway.
The KIA ordering doesn't seem to capture a sold owner's name. That would be a dealership naming sold vehicle identifier.

Those codes, 22Y, and 26W, are quite normal in the auto industry. I've worked in the auto industry as an engineer for over 15 years and there are a lot of things that don't make sense. But what you run into a lot is 3 or 4 different blacks or other colors in different shades on a single vehicle depending on trim levels. You might have a black cloth with 3 different stitch colors and 2 more in leather. Times have changed since the Henry Ford days where you could have any color as long as its black.

Sold yours to someone who is willing to pay $6k more... then suddendly the random one in their lot is... the one you ordered.

Anyone on here build your own Telluride and the dealership did a sale order for you......Then when "my car" was delivered it was the wrong exterior and interior color??? Also didn't come with the tow package like I requested.

Yes! Ordered mine fully loaded with BLACK nappa leather and cross bars. Mine came with DUNE BROWN and a tow kit. I asked about getting my interior corrected to what I originally ordered and they wanted $2000 for subpar materials. I asked about reordering and they said that the factory doesn't have any more leather for Telluride orders. I would have to wait until next year and/or wait for the 2021 edition. I think its pretty clear Kia and the dealers are doing whatever they want.

I'm sure the dealers will speak up here but it sounds as if your dealer never ordered your vehicle and tried to match an incoming order hoping that you would acquiesce and take it.

The dealers have an option. If KIA can't build what you requested, and KIA offers something similar, the dealer can accept it instead. Then, if you don't want it, they at least have one to sell.

I'm pretty sure what JW meant was did you still go through with buying the vehicle if it wasn't what you had requested be ordered?

Many other members of this forum have shared their experiences about their dealer ordering a vehicle for them. Many have reported that they later found out through various ways that their dealer never ordered anything and the dealership was just hoping they would be allocated a similar vehicle that they could then sell to the person who thought they had "ordered" it. It sounds like in your case, they simply are trying to sell you a vehicle that they were either allocated and hasn't been sold yet or someone else had ordered it but then backed out of the deal for whatever reason.

That is true , you actually never order, the dealer has a limit amount of allocation for each vehicle .

It not Kia , it the dealership, they are the issues.
