• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Within the last two weeks, I have expereinced two situations where the FCW was disabled with a notifcation with warning symbols. The first time was in a heavy rain and today, with snow here in Texas if you can belive that. It does reset once the vehicle is cycled ingniton off/ start. Purchased Telly EX in November of 2019. Driven in many rainstorms prior to without this issue. Seems odd that it would start up now.

I think it unsafe that at a time when you need it most the system disables itself. Mind you this is my first vehicle with this system. Am 72 and know how to drive in rain and snow being a northern Illinois native. Anyone else have this issue? Will be sending this thread to KIA dealer to see what they say.

I have had the same thing happen too. But it is better than a false activation. I was in a friends truck during a heavy rain storm and when he backed up the truck slammed on the brakes so hard he thought he hit something. He got out in the down pour only to find nothing there. So, which way do you want it?

It’s normal. Drivers should be in control when there is inclement weather outside. It is more dangerous if the car cannot accurately detect the leading car and stops too early or late, causing an even worse accident. Even Audi’s disable FCW systems in heavy rain and snow.

Others also experience the same normal behavior during rain/snow.

Frontal Collision Warning - Malfunction

If somebody relies on this system to be active when driving in the rain or snow, that person should instead wait until the weather passes or let somebody else drive.

I had more or less the same issue! Heavy rain and the dash lights up telling me Collison is disabled then it cleared up. About 30 minutes later I was backing out of driveway and brakes locked up to prevent Collison there was nothing there but rain. Not sure if I should make a appointment for dealer or not?
