What did you pay for your KIA Telluride?

Exactly! I’m not test driving until March 4th so hopefully they’ll have more info than “sticker price” by then or maybe some of the Founders Club incentives will be available by then. As much as I like this truck, I refuse, lol.
Tell me about Founders’ Club Incentives.

FWIW, I have reset driven a Telluride EX (Premium w/20" rims) and a Hyundai Palisade Limited (20" rims). The Telluride simply felt more "solid" and connected to the road, and a wee bit more sporty in fee over the Palisade. The Telluride is in no-way harsh like German vehicles can be over time (long hauling is not comfortable IMHO with most BMW's for instance). The Telluride handled potholes and speed bump better than the Hyundai cousin, and was noticiably more quiet for me. Not every review says this, but it's what I personally noticed.

As for the Pallisade, my wife liked it save for the weird striped wood trim, and the single dashboard connecting infotainment to instrument cluster, as it made her feel like she was sitting low. She had to adjust her seat WAY up and over to feel like she could see the front of the hood and was seeing over the dash design. The Telluride sat amazingly well for me - and her - with the seat in a neutral position. The Telluride easily allowed her to see over the dash and hood without need for some massively jacked up adjustment. That was the deal killer for her with the Palisade. Just sat terribly low compared to the Telluride for her.

These are the kind of things car reviewers seem to miss. Since 90% are guys reviewing things, they look at vehicles differently than women. Yet, ironically, women will be driving these SUV's a majority of the time out there in the real world - that's just how it is. The Telluride also has a visibility advantage over the Pallsiade (and it's HUGE over the non-functional 3rd row Highlander... Just sayin'). ; )

I was in a car accident 2 weeks ago, and have pretty much decided on a telluride for my next vehicle (Palisade is the other option, but I really want the telly). My son was already set to inherit a vehicle from my in-laws when he gets his license, so they just gave it to us now and that is what i'm driving. (Son is 16, but just starting to practice driving and not ready for his license). I am trying to wait as long as possible to purchase because it then means insuring 3 vehicles before we need to.

At what point do you forget about ordering a 2021 and just wait for the 2022 to come out being that they are months out anyway on orders?

Wondering about expectations for price off msrp—my dealer is now taking orders but will only do it for msrp. Any ideas about negotiating price or expected rebates/incentives? Are other Kia models discounted much?
There is a saying “Real estate is local.” In my national searching for a Telluride, the same is true for this popular vehicle. In my area (Portland, OR) $2,500 or more over sticker (Seattle area is worse). LA is a bit better and move east into Rockies, $1k or so over sticker. Move into the plains and around Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, etc... you can get below MSRP. I saw $1,900 below sticker today in Indiana or Illinois (I forget which). Head to the NE and it’s like the west coast - well over MSRP.

I purchased mine out of Lawerence Kansas, and will pay $850 - $900 or so to have it shipped and still be saving thousands compared with buying it in Portland (why buy it here and get ripped off).

Because this internet thing, we can now shop anywhere. I encourage you all to do the same. I purchased my Stinger GT in Colorado. For me it’s a National shopping experience.

I’ve discovered failcat.com today. Awesome sight. Find any car in the US at, or heading to every dealer in the country - awesome!

Part of this might be because in those high cost of living areas, a vehicle seems comparatively less expensive. Real estate adjusts but car prices really don't. So a higher-salaried family on the coasts might be more willing to put up with a bit of markup, because relative to their salary, buying a $50k car is like someone in the same type of job and a lesser salary buying a $25k-30k car in the midwest. One of the few "perks" of living in a HCOL area, if you can call it that, is that vehicles are relatively less expensive because they don't inflate like real estate, food, etc.

Yeah, but I've contacted dealers about ~10 cars I found via FailCat and they're always spoken for already. So I'm just patiently (sort of) awaiting our order.

The latest rumblings are that the 2022s are going to be essentially unchanged except for a price increase, something like $1500 supposedly. So IMO, it's not worth it. Yes, you'd have a "1 year newer" car, but you'll pay $1500 more for it and not really get any benefit.

Yah, out west, salaries due to tech are out of this world high. Government wants that money so they have imposed urban growth boundaries to jack up demand, short supply. Values are through the moon - as are my property taxes, which is what local governments are after. But the 35 year old Niké or Intel employees making mid-six-figures, a $50k car that’s marked up, who cares...

I bought 2021 EX AWD everlasting silver. It was my first choice color and trim. It was at my local dealer only 1 they had. They had 3 on website Friday and one on Saturday. Raleigh NC 1 hr drive away has 4 dealers in metro area and had 3 AWD cars total. I lost job after 25 years to covid and had just bought a new commuter car 3 months prior to layoff. Traded 2 cars so local was much more convenient in this case. I paid about 1000 over msrp. Considering the local market that was pretty fair. One lady got there after me and had to "settle" for Volvo XC90. When I got home I checked dealers website they had 10 XC90's with up to 9000 off msrp advertised.

Let me preface this by saying I am a very patient guy. If you want to save money you must have a good mentality that you never need to buy a car, but dealers must always be selling cars.

I looked in the Pacific NW (as I live here). The Best I could get for an EX w/AWD (no nightfall or premium package), was $2k over sticker all the way up to $5k over sticker in the Amazon/Microsoft Seattle area.

I started looking to the south in California. The LA area has some volume dealerships and one offered $1500 over sticker, but that was as low as I could find.

I moved into the Rocky Mountain region and found a few dealers in Utah and Colorado that were around $1000 over sticker…

I discovered the north east of the country also well over MSRP, while the south was little bit lower and in some cases close to sticker.

The sweet spot seems to be straight up the Mississippi River.

I placed my down payment with Lawrence Kia of Kansas. I won’t give my exact price but I got over $1700 off the sticker! They were very easy to deal with, very simple pricing, no gimmicks, etc...

i’ve noticed another dealer in the Kansas City Missouri area is $1900 a sticker on their website.

It cost me about $900 to ship it to the Pacific Northwest, but I’m still saving about $1000 bucks under sticker at the end of the day. That’s a lot better than paying $2000 over sticker with a local dealer for no reason whatsoever.

Bottom line is they are easy to work with. I was their 38th person to order at that time (early February). They are clearly a volume dealership engaging in KIA’s stair-step program to get bonuseach month.

Trend: The last 3 to 4 weeks I've noticed inventory is starting to increase across the country… If dealers start having inventory over 30 days (meaning they will have to pay interest on those vehicles) dealerships prices are going to start coming down quickly as supply is catching up with demand.

For now, if dealers can keep getting at or above sticker price, that pure profit will pay for some of that inventory that’s accruing interest, but They hate to do that and would simply start having to move cars faster to avoid 30+ day inventory, which means lower prices.

Hope that helps!
Great suggestions! So I was looking up Lawrence Kia of Kansas and they have 4 models of Kia Telluride. However all 4 of them seem to be priced 3-4 K above MSRP? Did things change or am I looking at something the wrong way? Thanks!

I like this strategy. Only I’m gonna tell them 6K under invoice.

Actually my real strategy is to wait a few months until real discounts (and the Palisade, which I’m also seriously considering) appear. Then I’m gonna search Auto Trader/Car Gurus for the lowest price in the country and ask a local dealer to beat the price.

My goal is 41K max for an SX Prestige (hey, that’s 6K under sticker!), maybe 42.5 for whatever the all-in Palisade is.

Would you share your contact at Lawrence Kia and number? I am seeing their website with prices 4-5k OVER MSRP.

Thanks!

Who did you work with in Lawrence? Their website has their prices listed over MSRP.

Edit: sorry, didn’t see the same question from others!

It seems a few are claiming they have got under msrp deals. If anyone would share a dealer anywhere in the country doing that with stock id be very interested and grateful if you posted it here.

So I just purchased a Gravity grey SX limited nightfall in Canada for $4k under Msrp. $43800 USD / $54 800 CAD. before tax.
$50 300 usd / $63 cad out the door taxes in.
Well that is 3k$ under (MSRP+Freight) being listed at 57.9K $ on Kia.ca

Sorry, everyone, a bit late to reply. I just put in a request via their website and I believe they just assigned it to Lead Relationship Specialist, Kate. So I'm not sure it matters specifically whom you work with there.

As for their pricing, they are a volume dealer, so they have targets to hit to meet the "stair-step" program (monthly bonus cash if they move X amount of cars in a given month). So I have no idea if they are good for this month and don't need to discount, or are running low on Tellurides for the local market thus the markups, I really can't answer that. All I can say is what they did for me a month ago, and it was great.

Happy Hunting!

Yes correct but I added floor mats that brought up the msrp price by another $700.

Around NYC, 2021 SX AWDs with prestige and nightfall are being offerred at +$8,000 to MSRP. If your willing to drive 85 miles towards Philly, you can get MSRP flat. I haven’t seen anything at all below MSRP.
