Front Turn Signal LED conversion

Finally got around to replacing the incandescent bulb with a yellow LED bulb on my EX. Now it crisply blinks like a proper LED light bulb should, instead of pulsing on and off. I like it!

You have to use a CANBUS 1157 bulb, otherwise you will get an error. I also had to fashion a "tool" to get the socket loosened. Otherwise, it was impossible to turn the socket due to the tight space.

The only remaining incandescent bulb left is the back up light. Looking at it closer I don't know if removing the back panel will expose the light module. It almost look like I have a do something with a tab looking thing and then maybe it'll slide out. Wish I had a service manual! Anyone replace their backup light with LED?

Nice! Can you provide a link to the bulb you used? Also, do you have the 'fast blink' symptom that some LED bulbs cause? Or does it blink at the normal rate...I was under the impression it might fast blink.

Yes, that is why you have to use a CANBUS compatible bulb. I first installed regular LED's and they got errors and hyper blinked.

You can see that the reviews are not that great. Hopefully they last!

Yes, that is why you have to use a CANBUS compatible bulb. I first installed regular LED's and they got errors and hyper blinked.

Thanks for the info! I didn’t even know that type of bulb existed...always thought you needed a separate resistor spliced in. Good to know.

I did some digging and found ones by Sineticusa that have some good reviews and are a bit cheaper. I’ll give these a shot and report back! Photo attached.

I don't think those will work. You can't have a external resistor/pig tail because the socket only takes 1157 and fits into the housing. I think it only takes a direct replacement unless this is designed to fit straight into the housing. If this works, it'll probably better since the resistor is external.

I saw that too but I don’t think the pic represents the 1157 bulb...it’s showing the same pic for all bulb types. Thinking it’ll be what is needed. I’ll see what I get and report back. Thankful Amazon has a good return policy, lol.

**EDIT - did some more digging, I think you’re right. Canceled my Amazon order. Might take my chances with the ones you suggested. Thanks for the heads up!

You also replace the headlights??? are they H8 type????

No they are not H8, they are 9005/HB3

@jazzyone Just ordered the bulbs from your Amazon link...thanks! Any tips regarding the tool you fabricated to loosen the stock bulbs? I did notice they were pretty tight.

I was thinking of using a needle nose plier but ended up fabricating a tool on a 3D printer. Without some sort of tool, it’ll be difficult to loosen because of the tiny space and awkward position of the socket from the top. Accessing it from the bottom may be easier.

Glad you were able to get it loose with a rag! I was tired of trying all sorts of things to get it removed since I couldn't get a good grip.

I'm glad you like them....hopefully they'll last without any problems!

Just letting you know I use a SMALL (6") wrench Adjust it to fit the tab and that's it will be needed only the first time you remove the bulb socket after that I was able to removed with my hand

Is your rear turn signal LED? What bulb did you use it so?

*edit* I see you have an EX which already has LED rears. I have an incandescent rear turn signal in my lower bumper. Gonna have to do some research on an LED that will work

Yes, this was for the front turn signal not the back...

For the back you'll need



Look for terms "Canbus" or "resistor" and your color.
