• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... April 2021 Infotainment Update?

What am I missing here? I have never had UVO but all i see is a simple external temperature.
You are seeing the temperature the car is getting from its temperature sensor vs. temperature data from an online weather provider the car is getting over its data connection.

That's one of the features I enjoyed most in the test drives I took!
Ditto - I really liked the 3-way split Home Screen and hope they bring the option back!

I just picked my new Telly last week and it has the purple layout and vacuum tube channel numbers. That doesn't bother me as much as losing the split screen! Where is it? That's one of the features I enjoyed most in the test drives I took!
Can you take a picture of the vacuum tubes everyone is bitching about? I have no idea what they look like. A posted picture would help us. Thanks.

These are first and foremost navigation map updates. The fact that they also have the added benefit of some new features every so often is just gravy on top. Last fall, 14.10 updated the Telluride’s interface to match other new Kias like the K5 and Sorento, which was the most obvious visual change we have seen to date with any of these updates.

It is relatively unprecedented that Kia and Hyundai offer free, downloadable map updates that also sometimes offer other added functionality as well. I still never have updated the maps on my 2014 Chevrolet SS, and never did on my previous 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee before I traded it for my Telluride, either. If I wanted to, it would run me $100-$150 each time. FCA did begin offering over-the air UConnect updates during the life of my GC, but it of course did not update maps and did not offer significant improvements anyway.
Yes I never updated my 2011 Honda Odyssey navigation maps because they cost even more than that! I could have bought a separate Garmin unit that had free updates for the same cost of one Nav update from Honda.

I went ahead and installed the update tonight (already had the ugly purple scheme, so figured I had nothing to lose...). I haven't noticed much difference yet, but I took some photos of the "what's new" screens that popped up after the install (attached).

The new home screen is terrible. We love the three customizable widgets and they need to switch it back.
I wholeheartedly agree!

In theory, you probably could, as long as it was formatted appropriately. Understand that the navigation updater clears everything that’s on a device, so don’t use anything that you actually have stuff on that you need.

Also, it would likely need to be a drive that doesn’t require any external power, but I’m not completely sure on that front.

I do know people have successfully updated with an SD card plugged into a SD-to-USB adapter. So this should be similar to that.

hmm yeah it didn't. just got back from trying. i downloaded the file folder to my laptop first, then transferred to a portable hard drive. plugged it into the vehicle and hit update but kept getting the message to plug in a device with the files. it was powering it up (doesn't need external power/plug), but wasn't reading the files. ill just run to best buy real quick and pick up a thumb drive. thanks!

When you say you transferred the folder to your portable hard drive, do you mean you transferred the folder or just the contents of the folder?

The car is looking for the update files to all be at the top level, not nested within another folder.

Just double checking because if so, that may be your problem.

hmmmm, yes, i transferred the folder. it was labeled as 2020_Telluride_USA. your saying open that folder up and then copy and paste/transfer each one of the files within that folder to the external hard drive so they are not within a folder. let me try that....thank you!

Yes - do not copy the folder, only the contents inside.

Just completed the update. Besides the changes already listed on this thread, I noticed that they removed the .... button for switching to the next set of saved channels. Now they're using a more visible 1/4, 2/4, 3/4 approach based on all the saved channels.

For someone who doesn't have stand alone GPS in their Telluride, is there really any good reason to update the infotainment software?

Conversely, is there any good reason to avoid updating?

How did you get the song info to display... mine only shows the station where yours shows the artist and song...

These updates are for navigation units. To date, there has been only one update to the 8” (display audio) head unit, and that was basically just a fix for UVO connectivity. Based on your picture and what’s on update.kia.com, you already have the current version.

No idea. I didn't do anything special to get that to display.
