Buckle up people! I had a coworker who refused to wear his seatbelt and was eventually in an accident. When he came back to work a few months later his face looked like Frankenstein!
I wear mine, but have the extenders because there are some passengers I have that don't like to wear one. They are adults and it's not my place to tell them what to do. So I just have it plugged in to my passenger seat. You can plug the seatbelt into them if you do want to wear it so you don't have to remove them. They are a very good remedy for me. The Mustang was better, you could turn them off with just some button pushing.
Not to mention the windshield...Not to be that guy, but it actually is 'your place'. If you care about yourself, or anyone else in the car, that person is a massive hazard to anyone else in the vehicle. A 100-200+ lb projectile in an accident can easily kill or injure another passenger in an otherwise unsubstantial accident.
You will not want to hear this, but it is true.I wear mine, but have the extenders because there are some passengers I have that don't like to wear one. There has never been a case where a person has been charged in the death of another because of not making them where their seatbelt. It's an add on they throw in for wrecklessly causing the death of another because of their wreckless driving.
Even from your article above The driver was indicted for a second-degree offense based upon the seat belt law and recklessly causing the death of the passenger. I can promise you if the person driving wan't being an asshat, there would have been no charges.
How about self-preservation? They become a 100+ pound loose projectile flying at you in a collision. Same reason you tie down heavy cargo. Why even risk it? Because it should be a personal choice by an adult who will do no harm to others by not wearing his/her seatbelt. Don't you think big brother has enough control of our lives? Another reason, is that is another adult and it's not my place to tell them how to live their lives just as I expect no one else to tell me how to live mine.

Just tell them, either put the seat belt on or get out...I wear mine, but have the extenders because there are some passengers I have that don't like to wear one. Are you sure that will hold with a simple google search? oh I don't care. You are going to do it because you are going to do it. If you really don't care about your friends, then why should I, but you are warned, you can and will be held reasonable. There has never been a case where a person has been charged in the death of another because of not making them where their seatbelt.
