If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Now that I've had my Telly for 8 months and 17k miles, here are a few "little" things I like about the Telly (SX) and a few things that could be improved.

  • Very intuitive infotainment & navigation systems - flexible and configurable (Though I was NOT fan of the latest update that turned the home screen into a waste of space IMHO.)
  • Auto Start/Stop - Saves a little money by stopping the engine if your sitting for a while.
  • Auto Hold - allows you to stay stopped even if foot off the break pedal. I use this a lot sitting in line for gas at Costco.
  • Reverse Downward Parking Aid - downward mirrors. This can easily be enabled/disabled depending on when you need it.
  • Third Seat headrests turn down when not using. Nice to have the third row heard rests blocking rear view if you don't have anyone in the third row.
  • Very Deep Center Console
  • Rear Seat Bag hangers - a simple yet useful feature
  • The indents for water bottles on the side door panels - another simple but useful feature.
  • USB charging ports for all passengers!
  • Auto Liftgate with max height adjustment
  • Dual access buttons on second row seats (on on bottom and one on top - makes for easy in and out access to third row,
  • Flexible rear climate controls - can let passengers set it or can be set from front controls.
  • The extra under-floor cargo storage area. Nice place to keep things like tool bag, emergency kit, ice scraper, cleaning supplies.
  • UVO remote: starting, door locking, and climate control
  • Driver Assistance Warnings and smart cruise control (wish the smart CC worked on more roads)
  • Lane Assistance (wish it worked even with cruise control off)
  • A real automatic shifter. I know it's personal preference, but I hate transmissions that are controlled with little knobs.
A few things that could be improved:
  • Glove box is on the small side - with manual in glove box not much room for anything else.
  • Reverse lights - Weak - I replacing with LED bulbs. (should come with Led lights from factory)
  • A cargo mat with 60/40 split for third row is only available in Canada. (Edit: I'm talking about all-weather mats, not the carpeted)
  • OEM mud guards are too small - looks better than no flaps but functionally worthless.
  • The front windows sometimes will not roll back up at speed (I've heard a lot of people complain of this issue)

Congratulations on 17k with your Telly, @BasilFawlty !!

I just got to 17k myself, yesterday.

Great list.

Pretty much noticed the same things, although I never noticed the reverse lights to be weak.

I'm sure the LEDs will be much stronger.

Regarding the 60/40 split for the third row seats:

Kia Canada doesn't have the only one.

The underrated and well-priced OEM Carpeted Cargo Mat w/ Seat Back Protection (which also does the 60/40 split) is available in the US for less than half the price of the Canadian "all-weather" mat and works just fine and has the best edge-to-edge fit, attachment, and protection, which is why they have it offered as a factory-installed option here in the United States. Around $100, Kia Motors America should just include this with the SX Prestige Package.

Do y'all use the small storage area that's just left of the passenger's left leg?

You are correct. I knew about the carpeted version. I should have been more specific - I meant all weather mats.

Great list. I'll add to the positives:
* Heated steering wheel and cooled seats. I knew I'd love heated seats but the others are unexpectedly great.
* The two-thirds/one-third screen layout. I thought I'd miss the three-panel layout, but having the map in the left two-thirds is WAY better. I use that as my default, with either radio station or weather in the right one-third.
* I don't like the new home screen, BUT ... I never see it. When I start the car, it comes up with the map on the left and either the weather or radio station on the right, depending on how it was when I stopped it last. The home screen (and radio screen too) are non-issues for me because I just don't see them.
* Visibility is great for the size of the car.
* The rear shades keep it cooler when parked.
* I love the amber DRLs. For now, they're unique and I can always tell when another Telluride is approaching. More often than not, I'll get a wave.
* I like the folding rear view mirrors. When I go to a touchless car wash, I fold them in so the side jets hit them more directly. Great for bug removal.

And for improvement:
* I really wish I could more easily change the navigation destination on the fly, while driving. Sometimes voice recognition works with a search, but it would be nice if the passenger could just do it from the screen.
* I'd love to see Kia set up a software feature suggestion website. People could make suggestions, and rank importance of already-submitted ideas. It would allow them to match their development efforts to the things that people really want to see.

I agree with your list. However I would argue Highway Drive Assist is a big thing that I love. Finally used it today to drive over 500 miles. Worked beautifully and made small distractions from kids less stressful. I did experience the window roll up at high speed glitch.

You Guys are Awesome!!! Don't have my ESP NF Yet, but I keep learning new things about this SUV all the time.

* Heated steering wheel and cooled seats. I knew I'd love heated seats but the others are unexpectedly great.
And the seat cooler/heater and steering wheel heater will set automatically based on ambient air temperature.
Visibility is great for the size of the car.
And the cameras front and rear are a big help when I want to park just right! Also the collision avoidance warning with the vibration in the steering wheel has already saved me from a parking lot mishap a couple of times.
The rear shades keep it cooler when parked.
Those are also great for when we have the granddaughter in a car seat in the second row and want to keep the harsh sun out of her face.
I love the amber DRLs.
Me too. When I see those coming down the street I know the wife is almost home!
I really wish I could more easily change the navigation destination on the fly, while driving. Sometimes voice recognition works with a search, but it would be nice if the passenger could just do it from the screen.
I understand why they did that, but yeah, it would be nice if the passenger could change the navigation destination, etc., without you having to come to a complete stop and putting the car in park. That's a little too "Nanny State" for me. Better capability with voice recognition would help that problem.
I'd love to see Kia set up a software feature suggestion website.
I wonder if people from Kia ever lurk on forums like this? I agree that an official "Suggestions" feature would be a good way for them to learn what the people really want - also what works and what doesn't.

Don't have my ESP NF Yet,
When do you anticipate? What color/ interior?

Pretty much noticed the same things, although I never noticed the reverse lights to be weak.
We have a long-ish driveway that has a weird ~30° bend about the last 50 feet. When backing out at night, it can be difficult to navigate and not run into the ditch. I found that the OEM reverse lights added almost no light when looking in the rear view camera at night. After reading comments on here are the LED upgrade, I decided to try it and it made a huge difference in how well I can see in the rear camera when I back up. One of the best upgrades for the money IMHO.

I imagine this is in another thread, but can you give us the specific products you installed? Seems like a great idea.

I installed these and they work great!

Note that there is a newer model;

I saw a guy briefly use a front camera while the car was moving forward on YouTube. Which feature is that? Or maybe I misunderstood what he said. I don’t have my car yet.
thx

There are multiple camera views that can be brought up on demand. Really handy for snug situations! Mine is an SXP… these camera views may or may not be on some trims.

Wow! Didn’t know that. I can see the convenience in some situations

I now have a fix for the window issue not staying all the way up at highway speed!!!!

This happened to me a couple of weeks ago while driving down the interstate. My lovely did the research over her phone while I continued to drive. It's a window sensor re-set and nothing more. I had just had my SXP in for scheduled maintenance the week before, where they also performed a Navi software version upgrade. The web says that the window sensors can sometimes be affected by electronic system changes or updates, or if you replace your battery.

Hold the power window button down for 10 seconds, then back up for 10 seconds. That should fix your problem.

I think most if not all cars have some sort of a window reset which we rarely need to do. It sounds like the Tellulrides’ window are more sensitive

agree with most except Auto Start/Stop is an abomination, thank god it can be turned off if only temporarily
I’m happy I’m not alone on that. I grew up driving and still play with older cars. If my vehicle shuts down when stopped it means I get to push from there. Not a good feeling. Even in a new car.

Definitely going to give this a try! Thanks for the research. Fingers crossed.
