Good Dealer Dealings - List Your Good Dealer Experience

Classic KIA in Waukegan, IL! Great experience. Went there after walking away from a bad experience from Schaumburg Bob Rohrman Kia and also a recommendation from this forum. Easy and transparent as it should be. Worked with John Plewka. Ordered ours today. So excited!

I picked up my Wolf Gray SXP from Kia of Puyallup in Washington State.

When I started looking back in February, Tim Llapitan (Internet Sales Manager) was the only salesperson in the Western Washington region that would answer me back with what exactly the dealership was charging on Tellurides. All the others wanted me to come in "to discuss." He was upfront that they charge $2,000 extra but also add onto the powertrain warranty and have free oil changes and car washes for life. I came into the office, and they gave me a spec sheet for my order when my time on the waitlist came up. No deposit is required.

Tim kept me up to date monthly on my waitlist status. When they moved to the 2022s, he texted to make sure I was still on board, and my order was submitted within a couple of weeks.

He also kept me up to date with the ETA, and when it arrived yesterday, I got a prompt text. Made an appointment to come in today. The car was ready. I had an excellent finance package from USAA, and the Finance Manager didn't give me a hard time. He offered the warranty, and when I showed him a quote from Muncie, he matched the price. Since it was a Saturday and fairly busy, it took 2 hours to get in and out with our car.

I told Tim at the beginning that I thoroughly dislike car buying, and all I wanted was to feel good about the deal afterward. He met my request.

GREAT SALESMAN EXPERIENCE!!

I am in CA and all dealerships are $7500 to 10,000 over MSRP. At the suggestion of someone in this forum I checked out some dealerships in Colorado.

I ordered from Jakeob Taylor at Arapahoe Kia in CO. NO MARKUP! So I’ll be saving $7500+ for a short plane ride and a 2-day road trip back to CA.

Jakeob took my order right over the phone the process took less than 10 minutes! And is always responsive to my follow-up questions. Give him a call and let him know I referred you!
What will happen when you try to register an out of state car in CA? Aren't there financial penalties for that?

Thanks for the report here. I likely was looking at your car (among several others that were waiting for their owners) in the lot on Friday when I went to test drive!

Nope. Done it few times.......

There is thread about buying and registering an out of State purchase for CA residents. Use the upper right search feature to find it. Gave me the confidence to place an order with a high volume dealer in Colorado.

No, the salesman told me they would charge me California state taxes and register it in California… So I will be all set.

You’re more likely to have Beyoncé perform a personal concert in your house than get a Telluride in two weeks without a huge markup. As far as recommended dealers in NJ, Nutley Kia… but you’ll be in for a wait.
It just happened .. got a call from Nutley Kia that they had someone cancel last min on an EX that had arrived .. went right in and did the paperwork for pickup on Saturday!!!

Congrats… you won the lottery! Be sure to post pics. And check out some of the great Italian places to eat in town. You’ll be glad you did!

In the two weeks since my order was placed I’ve been offered 5 Tellurides at MSRP that the original customer backed out of and would be available with a week. 2 were SXP/N, 2 SXP, and 1 EXP/N. Unfortunately none of them were a combo I wanted.

Point is, it definitely happens - just need patience.

Shout out to Shawnee Mission KIA in Kansas City - ordered mid/late May at 'only' paint protection over MSRP, salesperson (Bryan) has been proactively providing updates, they checked in with me to make sure I was aware of (and cool with) the new logo, and today got a text with screen shots of my order progress AND and email with the window sticker PDF.

I just looked it up in failcat and the VIN posted today - they're on top of things and doing a great job

I contacted Fort Bend Kia and I was told an 8 month wait. I ended up ordering from Van Griffith Kia in Granbury at MSRP. Only charge was $399 for a window tint which I was fine with and $399 for the actual custom order. Again, I was fine with that too. was told 3-5 months, but most orders were not taking as long. Local dealers in San Antonio were charging BS fees of $5k and saying that Kia wasn’t accepting orders. They seriously think the consumers are idiots. I said bye Felicia. Ordered a 2022 SX AWD in Sangria w/Tow.
I'm in San Antonio, TX and have had the same experience with the dealers near by telling me that KIA isn't taking orders and I just felt suspicious about it. I just got a quote from World Car South Kia They said $60,353 for a 2022 Telluride Nightfall. Do you know any other dealerships in the area that are doing MSRP?

1. Great Dealership & sales representative: Ed Voyles Kia, Chamblee (Atlanta) GA. Alan Griffitt was our sales rep and he could not have been more pleasant and straight forward. And he walked the walk: MSRP was the promise and MSRP is what the Purchase Agreement said. That was $49,875.00. There was a dealer Administrative Fee of $795.00, so MSRP Including Options was $51,010.00. Everything else was taxes / title fees to Georgia or options we either purchased or declined. Zero pressure from Business Manager Alan Ratliff to buy addtional warranties or coverages, he did a good job of highlighting the pros and cons of each, which I will share with anyone who is considering them. And, like Alan Griffitt, Adam Ratliff could not have been more pleasant.

2. Breakdown from the window MSRP sticker on our 2022 SX AWD GWP NP Tow: MSRP was $44,590. Inland Freight and Handling is $1,225.00. GWP $495.00, Nightfall $1,395.00. Prestige $2,300.00. Towing Package w Self Leveling Rear Suspension $795.00. Carpeted Floor Mats $210.00. Total $51,010.00. Financing option we liked best was 1.90% for 60 months (requires a stout FICO).

3. Time from order to delivery: Order placed March 27, $2,000.00 deposit charged March 29, vehicle arrived at dealership June 30.

4. Markups - Alan was clear on this: if we had changed our mind, they would have refunded the $2,000.00 deposit, added $10,000 to the window sticker, put it on the floor and waited. I doubt it would still be there.

5. Thoughts on price paid / value received - The SX AWD delivers value for the $$. The Tow Package is a bargain. The Nightfall and Prestige packages are nice, but I would not describe either as a bargain or a great value for the cost the factory charges. That said, I don't know of another vehicle on the market for

And yes, it's a terrific car. My wife likes it better than her 2017 Lexus RX 350 (also a terrific car). I do, too.

Is it cheaper to order from KIA as opposed to buying off the lot because I was just told two days ago by a salesman that ordering is way more expensive.

When are you expecting delivery? I'm trying to learn how long it takes from a VIN appearing on failcat.com and delivery to dealership.

My full timeline was/is:
May 17th - placed our order with dealer
June 21st - message from dealer that Kia accepted order (he didn't use the words but I assume that is equal to the June order period in KFOS) and the expected delivery was Sept 8th
July 28th - VIN assigned with expected delivery of Sept 7th

I won't attach the screen shot from their order system (captured 7/28) because it only attaches as SUPER HUGE but the milestones are:
Body In: 7/27
Paint In: 7/27
Trim In: 7/28 (shows in system as an estimated date, VIN provided)
Production Complete: 7/29
Final Inspection: 8/3
Tendered Not Shipped: 8/7
Shipment Out: 8/9
Dealer Arrival: 9/7

It seems like almost a month in transit could be a conservative estimate and it'll arrive earlier but there are also a thousand factors (distance, access to rail, other vehicles heading in this direction, truck availability, etc, etc.) that make that a perfectly reasonable amount of time. All of which is a long way of giving you the answer to your question which is, for me, 6 weeks from VIN to ETA.

I ordered with John P at Classic too and you're right, very easy and transparent. @Tortuga07 recommended I go there and I'm so glad I did. Deposit and order placed 5/28, KIA accepted 6/21, expecting delivery 8/19 (17 days later than initial ETA).

Did you pay more than the msrp?
