Rear ended and now car won't start

Hi,
I was rear ended. damage to the hatchback, metal area below the hatchback and the tail pipe was bent. On my way home the car stalled on the highway. I took it to the body shop...they put it back together. The blind spot indicator was not working so they took it to the kia dealership. They fixed the blind spot indicator, took it for a test drive and the car stalled on them as well. the computer said low fuel pressure and now they have to figure it out. Of course I don't want this to turn into a nightmare...... works for awhile and then shutdown again . Any information you can give me so i know what to do. The person who hit me..his insurance is paying for it but don't want to sign off on this until I am sure it is fine. thanks for any input....about cause and how to deal with insurance....thank you

I assume you have insurance? I would file a claim with your insurance company, get an adjuster out there to the Kia dealership ASAP and get an estimate for repairs. Let your insurance company fight with the insurance company of the person who hit you. You don't need to do all that. That's why you have insurance. You'll likely want to claim depreciated value, etc. And get your deductible paid by the other company. Sounds like there is a problem - more than meets the eye. Don't sign anything until your insurance company has evaluated the situation.

Thanks...the insurance company from the other driver has already agreed to pay for the body work and my deductible. not sure about the mechanical stuff but the body shop sent the car over so it seems to be part of the claim.....what a mess

My big concern is what if I take the car and in awhile it stalls again. the insurance company might say it is mechanical and not caused by the accident and the kia dealership might say it is not covered by warranty because of the accident. damn

Is it possible to have Kia install an event logger in your car to see if it can capture the error the next time the car stalls? You may need to provide the date and time the incident occurs so they can trace the event.

If you have damage near the fuel tank/filler that may cause problems. Modern emissions systems require a fully sealed tank/cap. If there is something amiss there, that could cause your stalling (maybe). Or the fuel pump, or who knows. Like mentioned, it should all be repaired under insurance to protect you.

They and their insurance should be paying for everything. You were rear ended, they have admitted fault, let your insurance duke it out with their side. The car was in drivable condition prior to being hit, it needs to be returned to this condition and your insurance should be fighting for you on this. There should be no need to "cover your deductible" as there wouldn't be a claim with your insurance.

There is an inertia switch in all modern cars with electric fuel pumps to shut off the fuel pump in the event of an accident. Sounds like it may be damaged.
